You will remember the post recently about three podencos found hung, and shot. Here is another podenco, was he a victim of hanging also, or has he spent years growing up on the end of a rope, which is the fate of thousands of podencos? Luckily he has been rescued, from Xativa, Valencia.
He was found, very frightened in a poor way, with a thin rope around his neck, embedded well into the flesh, which smelt terrible and was gangrenous. The volunteer gave him a sausage to catch him, and he was barely able to swallow. His head is also swollen. The podenco was by a petrol station and one of the staff reported that he had been putting food out – he had seen a man dump the podenco, he believes it was a hunter.
The rope was wet, as though the dog had been tied to something to drown it, but the rope had broken. Contact: Maribel Martinez Moya 0 645 985 775 totila59@gmail.com

sad sad it just goes on and on
But what can be expected from a goverment who are promenting bull fighting by giving free tickets to children under 12 cost 60.000 euros 300.000 and a signed contract with the hunting federation to give children aged between 6 and 12 a days hunting
With a goverment with theses views there seems little hope for the welfare of hunting dogs to ever get better
Spain is broke but it can still waste money on it,s so call culture of blood letting
Our family and friends will not travel to Valencia because of animal cruelty!
i agree toni they just dont give a shit these poor dogs suffer all the time the rescues can only do what they can bless them all
