Introducing Coco, a podenca andaluz, who knew just the right people to pick forever!
Emma tells the tale.
‘We first moved to Spain at the start of April 2011 and were staying at a villa near Alhaurin el Grande. The first day we arrived my partner Richard was looking in a river close to the villa, when a small head popped out of a hole, to his surprise it was a little puppy! I couldn’t believe it when he walked in with her, she was so cute. We asked around and was told she was abandoned and nobody wanted her (which unfortunately is supposed to be common), I was shocked how anyone could just dump such a sweet puppy!
We took her in, got her some food and took her to the vets. She had to have some tests because she had a poorly tummy at first, but luckily got a clean bill of health!
We fell in love with her, so decided to keep her and called her Coco. Although we would have never decided to go out and get a dog when we had only just moved to Spain, we have never regretted taking her in.
We now live in El Faro, she loves the sea view and playing on the beach. We didn’t know what type of dog she was but kept getting told she was a Podenco, which again we never heard of. She has turned into the most adorable dog, we always get told she looks like a fox because of her big pointy hears and reddy colour.
I would recommend anyone to take in a Podenco, they have a lovely temperament and good nature. Coco has become a very valued and loved member of our family, she makes me smile everyday!

What a great story with a happy ending,,,,
We have just got our first Podenco,,,well he may be a cross,we started to dog walk at the FAMA rescue in Fuengirola, after a few weeks a lady said ,”have a look at the little Podenco in the crech”,there was this tiny ,soft face of SNOOPY,A few weeks later the founder of the rescue Pat Coleman asked my wife if we would like to take Snoopy home for the weekend,,,the rest is history,, he is only 6 months old ,but you wont believe the difference he has made to our lives, he is so loving, trusting, and like many pods a great little house dog,,our thanks and our hearts go out to all mistreated animals, and our thanks to ALL the people who strive to bring some peace and happiness to these wonderful animals,,,Ivor Scott,Cabopino Spain,,
Ivor, please email me band@bbrennan.eu with the full story of adopting your little podenco, with some pix, and then I will post the story of Snoopy. Every story of adoption of a pod is another one to persuade people who do not know what fabulous pets they make – to adopt one1
Beautiful story and every Podenco GRIN has brought here to the states has the same effect on their adopters..they are smitten! Thank you for rescuing this sweet Coco and now you are officially one of the Galgo/Podenco Cult followers worldwide 🙂
