Bullas, Murcia – podencos rescued and now safe
Viv Wharton of Animal Welfare Support Murcia was one of the dozens of volunteers who travelled to Bullas, Murcia, on 9th March 2012, to help in the rescue of over 70 dogs remaining of the 120 in the compouund. This photo is of a few of them, relaxing in safety. Here’s what Viv says about the day.
‘Not an easy day at Bullas but nonetheless successful with the rescue of 8 Podencos. Not easy as we saw first hand how hard those decisions were; great work Little Pod Foundation and Podenco Friends and the volunteers; Little Pod Foundation who were responsible for undertaking the rescue of these pods were professional but passionate and I have great admiration for them.

Jara podenca – waiting in Jaen for her forever home
This beautiful little podenca was rescued from the streets of Jaen, heavily pregnant. She is now in the mini refuge at Torre del Campo, ready for her forever home. She’s been named Jara and she’s about 18 months old. Here’s what Romina says about her character.
‘She is lively and playful and gets along well with other dogs but doesn’t like cats. She likes to cuddle and is a bit bossy as she wants all the love for herself!’.
Contact Romina (speaks English) if you can give her a forever home.

Operation Rehala, Murcia – 120 dogs at risk – the whole story
24 hours to save the dogs from Bullas
6 March 2012
by Irene CrespoYes, the authorities only granted 24 hours to rescue all the dogs in Bullas (Murcia) and out of the hell where they are. Removing the remaining 70 dogs in that situation in 24 hours … Mission Impossible?
Well this is not the first bureaucratic difficulty with which foundationn Pro-Setter (The association that is coordinatating the rescue of these animals) and volunteers from other organizations that work with them are encountering.

Torre del Campo, Jaen – another injured galgo – what is wrong in Spain>
Lourdes Pulgar tells the story.
A couple of days ago, someone took a male galgo to the protectora, which they found in Lindares. Now I have been to collect it to take to the garage/mini refuge refuge where there are 8 more dogs.
I was told that it could not walk; it is not lame. has problems of co-ordination and walks as if it was drunk; he eats and drinks as if it had parkinson. I cannot express how I have felt while it was walking – see the videos, it was falling down and
it was stumbling constantly while I was crying was cursing the hunter who has left it.Less than a year old, he has had a VERY STRONG BLOW IN THE HEAD and this
is the cause of the problem; it also has woulds to its feet. It is ill too. -

Where to stay in Seville! Cheap accommodation!
Seville area, can anyone save this podenca bitch and her 2 puppies. She’s in an area where there is garbage dumped, and dogs, dead from cold and hunger. Please has anyone room to take them temporarily or longer, otherwise they too will probably die from hunger and cold. The sender of the appeal is already full to bursting.
