  • From Barcelona streets to Djimba and safety in France

Cleao 2 djimba 250 4 2012This little lady is Cleo, just like my tiny Podenca Andaluz Bebe and, like Bebe, Cleo’s history is a sad one – luckily she is now in the caring hands of Betty at Djimba.

‘Cleo is a very small podenco that was found in December 2012 on the streets near Barcelona, her left fore leg was badly broken. She was taken to a vet and operated on, 4 metal plates were put in her leg. She stayed at the vet in a bench for 2 months and then should have gone to a shelter. However, due to her leg and the fact that she was very scared of people, she went to a foster home in Barcelona.

  • Seville – accommodation needed long term, forever home for Podenco Ibicenco puppy

POKI-1 190I write you on behalf of my good friend Nati, because I’m trying to help Poki. Thank you very much!!!

“Poki is so small! Just 2 months, he is a Ibizan Hound and will be a big boy as an adult. I have him on a residence (kennels) because I have no foster for him. Please can anyone help with foster or adoption or sponsorship!!! He has already been quite hungry and cold and deserves a home now. He has been very lucky to be rescued, where he could get sick, he was sad and hungry… is now a residence (kennels), but it’s no place for a puppy”. Please can someone take him out of the kennels and prepare him for a forever home. He’s just a baby. I can provide all the information for the vet and his residence.

  • Reflections on the Bullas, Murcia, rescue on 9th March 2012 – 120 dogs

The Shame of Spain -250 Viv 3 2012Regular readers will have been following the two large rescues carried out in Murcia in January and February 2012, namely at a gypsy camp with 74 dogs, and Bullas with 120 dogs. Vivienne Wharton lives near Cartegena, Murcia and has written about her experiences with the Bullas rescue on 9th March 2012.

    The shame in Spain

I recently started my activities in a facebook group – Animal Welfare Support Murcia, whilst waiting for my Association, Actin, to be registered by the Town Hall. Actin – Animal Care Treatment International Network is not a rescue charity but an Association which will endeavor to make changes to the overwhelming situation of abandoned and neglected dogs, cats and other domestic animals in the region. We plan to do this through many activities including education and campaigns.

  • Gerena, Seville – abandoned podenco desperately needs help

Seville podenco 250 2 15 3 2012This podenco is on the outskirts of Gerena, Seville. It’s about 12 kg and very young, is wounded in its neck by the wide collar on it, which has a bell!. It’s huddling under these large sones out of the heat. Scared, it hides in the hush when approached. There is a girl putting food out to try and gain its trust – she’s called the dog Campanillo. An extra problem, if he can’t be caught soon, is that he will grow and the collar will cut into the flesh of its neck.

Is there anyone, especially an association, in the area who could help catch this podenco? Contact: natisabe@hotmail.com
