We all love happy endings and here’s another one, about this beautiful podenca bitch called Beatriz. Ellie tells her story.
‘Having spotted Beatriz on the Paws On Spain Adopt A Pet rescue site
two months ago, Bea is now in her new forever home down on the farm in
North Devon, UK. Rescued in a terrible state, emaciated and very
scared, Bea has come on in leaps and bounds, thanks to the care she
received from Paws On in Ontinyent, a small, privately run rescue.
” We try to do what we can, but the volume of dogs, particularly
podencos, and the appalling cruelty cases we come across makes every
re-homing a small triumph. It makes it all worthwhile somehow, said
Amy, who runs the little rescue in Ontinyent, Valencia. We mostly
rehome to Germany and Holland, but with the change in quarantine
regulations into the UK, its relatively easy to get the dogs to the UK
now, and of course much less expensive”.
Ellie, who rescued Beatriz, dealt directly with a local pet transport company who did an amazing job in bringing her back and brought her straight to the door! Paws On Spain liaised with the vets in Ontinyent and looked after her until she was able to travel.
We’re not too sure that Beatriz is very impressed with the English
weather, but she has already made great progress in the two weeks she
has been in the UK. Alot of patience and time seem to be the order of
the day, but she is a strong character and settling in slowly. You
just need to look into those eyes, its all there, just bursting to get
out!
