Apologies to those of you who wish to comment on my articles. I have no idea why Typepad has done this, but I have asked my webmaster Craig to look into it. Needs sorting!

Help the Ibiza podencos or they will die!
At the end of February I published this story about packs of podencos roaming loose on Ibiza – away from the Tourist hotspots of beaches and hotels. This is an update – sadly not really much further forward. And what is even worse is that no one has come forward to attempt to help them. I know refuges are overflowing with podencos but this situation on Ibiza is tragic!
’14 3 2017 – The situation has changed in the sense that the city council has already hired a company to capture them and take them to Mallorca. The previous time this company came to capture podencos it took about 40, about two years ago. Only 9 were rescued, a person adopted them and looked for homes. The rest were sacrificed, the excuse given was that they were sick, but it was not true. As seen in the first video, which was made a few weeks ago, most are young and in good condition.

Podenco Spirit – keep fingers crossed for his recovery
Remember Spirit, the poor podenco who had his lower jaw shot off. Refugio la Candela reported on 29 December.
WE ARE WORRIED ABOUT SPIRIT – he is not quite right : (
Since some days ago, the professionals in Valencia Sur Veterinary Hospital have noticed that he had lost a little appetite and decided to look for the cause.
SPIRIT’s situation is very delicate; although his improvements are obvious, his body has suffered a lot and any uncontrolled process can mean big risks.
After several control tests we could appreciate a hepatic alteration that might respond to a vascular hepatitis; we are going to do a cytology to be able to establish a clearer diagnosis.
Besides, yesterday (28/12/2016) he underwent an ultrasound scan that showed a regular size of his organs.

(Alan with galga Alana) A word of warning from Jane Brian of Pepis Dog Refuge.
‘Just to let you know what happened to some of our dogs a few years ago now, we rescued 5 mastin puppies and they were in a large pen with a shelter. They were all doing fine until one day we noticed they were looking poorly one was very sick, they were rushed to the vets and put on a drip.
