  • Arca de Noe, Albacete – amazing rescue of a lost podenco

Arca de Noe pod rescue 250Arca de Noe writes ‘Our rescue team works without rest. They have a special sense, can think as a lost and scared podenco or galgo would do and guess when and where is coming… They first find out the places where the dogs used to go at each time, then they put food and water in the same place every day, sometimes for several months…. Suddenly one day, they send us the picture with the galgo or podenco in their car or homes, or they appear in the shelter with that smile that, you know, is unforgettable and that means: He is finally safe, He is with us!

In the meantime I will be using friends’ wifi to check mail and comments. Don’t stop reading! I have schedule some posts to publish whilst I personally am offline.

  • Signs of leishmania in dogs

Lethargy and reluctance to go for walks

Constant shivering and shaking. This could be rigours, which indicates that the kidneys
are involved. If your dog has this, get to a vet as soon as possible and get the kidneys checked.

Enlarged, hard lymph glands which can be felt as lumps in the neck, just behind the jaw joint.

These are additional signs and symptoms indicated by members of the Living with Leish
    Facebook group.

Sneezing, and a cold or chest infection blocked nostrils.

Bad smell coming from the dog. Described as “Gorgonzola”, a “monkey cage” etc.

    Overheating with panting.

N.B. Many of the above signs can be confused with other illnesses. If they do not respond to conventional treatment, this may indicate that Leishmania is the underlying cause.
