Prodeanse need help with Podenca bitch and 8 puppies
This is an urgent appeal to the good people, for people who are characterized by being the voice of these poor animals, the forgotten, the abused… This hound has suffered in her life and is now struggling to bring up 8 puppies. She was in a hovel, coping with the cold and heavy rains which have plagued Algeciras. She was found by a friend of Prodeanse who are going to take her into their care, to a kennels where Esperanza – for that is what she has been named – can care for her puppies, warm and dry.
If you can help, please contact Prodeanse (they speak English) for donations for food and vet fees for Esperanza and her babies. Every little will be greatly appreciated. Paypal this address and email adopcionesprodeanse@gmail.com

Urgent foster/adopting home needed for Podenco Ibicenco Zorro
I received this appeal for help recently from a lady in southern Spain, who is quite ill and in poor living conditions. She rescued this stunning Podenco Ibicenco, she’s name him Zorro.
She says ‘I have “tamed” a young podenco who was abandoned on this campsite. He was here when I arrived at the end of August and I had no intention of catching him, as I had nowhere to live. The campsite people were chasing him all the time and were going to take him to the perrera. He was thin, frightened and young; I thought I’d be able to find him a home. I didn’t realise he’d get so attached to me or that it would be so difficult to find him a home.

Sinking in Seville – save the hounds from the galgueros
Immaculada – also known as Inma and Macu – of Seville does incredible work rescuing animals off the street and from a settlement of galgueros nearby. She deals with the vet, paying kennel fees, appeals to associations to help foster and rehome these hounds. Many of them I have featured on PP – including big hairy Podenco Campanero Chaplin, now happily rehomed in the UK with the help of SOS Animals. She’s currently got 9 podencos and 1 galgo, to name just 10!
Macu has sent this appeal. ‘It is very bad here, I have many animals that depend on me and to make matters worse I have no computer, I thought it was the hotmail account, and changed it to g.mail and even so, it is the computer…so I’m at my brother’s house using his computer, but I cannot connect and answer as fast as before.
Here I send you a link of a blog, so you can see all the animals that I have in my charge.

Seville & Valencia – young podencos needing homes
Two young podencos desperately needing foster and forever homes. The young male Ibicenco is no good at hunting, so the hunter is going to kill him along with a couple of Breton Spaniels who he says also are no good as hunters. Please, can anyone take him, he’s only 2 years old. He looks thin and frightened. He’s in Entity, a village in Seville. Contact
loli.difundo@gmail.comAnd this white beauty, Nana, is only 3 months old, found in the middle of a road in Poblet, Valencia. She is so good, quiet, submissive but cheerful. Seems good with cats, loves other dogs and people. The appeal for a forever home for little Nana, as the foster home is only temporary and she will have to go to a shelter, which is no good for a puppy. Contact m12casom@uco.es jose@uco.e

Arrecife, Lanzarote – SARA Protectora Podenco Publicity Day!
I’m catching up on posts, as have been away on holiday for a week with my son and grandsons. Here’s a marvellous event which is much needed in the Canary Islands where the podencos have a very hard life, and local people need to know what marvellous pets they can make.
SARA Lanzarote are organising an event on 24th November at Arrecife, and hope that it’s not too late for podenco associations elsewhere and on mainland Spain to organise something at the same time. Here’s the report from SARA Lanzarote.

Update from Cordoba University Vet School on Podenca Tanke
Good news about podenca Tanke from Laura, the vet student at Cordoba University. They have taken an x-ray of Tanke’s lung and it is clear, she hasn’t got metastisis. They also have enough money to operate on her next Monday (29/10) and will keep us up to date. If everything goes ok, Laura says Tanke will be ready for adoption by the middle of December.
