  • Podenco Andaluz puppy Spok – Last Chance Animal Rescue, Malaga appeal

Last Chance Spok 170 7 2013Danielle tells us about this Podenco Andaluz puppy. ‘This little boy Spok is in desperate need of his forever home, all 6 of his siblings have homes, so he is all alone with no home. I rescued his pregnant mum from a kill shelter. Can anyone give this little boy a home, he is small and will be knee height when fully grown. He loves other dogs, cats and children. He is in Javea, anyone welcome to come and see him. Please help Spok and give him a home he deserves.’ Contact Danielle at the Last Chance Animal Rescue, Malaga.

  • 3 podencos from Seville to Murcia – please donate to transport costs

Chas and Dave 250Meet podencos Chas and Dave. 3 months old, they were found abandoned in Cadiz and Bev Farmer has said she will take them. She’s also offered to take podenco Solo, who has been with Pepis Dog Refuge in Seville where no one has shown any interest in this lovely boy. Chris Marshall has said he can collect the 3 podencos from Seville and take them to Bev in Murcia on 5th July. The cost is 75 euros per dog. Funds are now desperately needed to pay for the transport, so if you can help, please paypal band@bbrennan.eu as a gift and mark it ‘podencos’. For adoption of them, email Bev

  • Bogus RSPCA callers – animal owners beware – please circulate!

Please see message below that was received today from a trusted source. Could you all send to everyone in your address book, with lots of eyes looking for this van there’s much more chance of them getting caught.

When I was halfway to Kent doing deliveries this morning I had a phone call from my son, apparently the RSPCA were at my door. I have seen a white van with lowercase letters ‘rspca’ (NOT their Logo) in my road for the last 2 days with the occupant seemingly just walking around ? Luckily, having seen the van, I had reminded my children just yesterday that if they come, they do NOT come in, they do NOT see my dogs, and they must come back when myself and/or my husband are here.

  • Podencos in Valencia perrera – update

Bad news from Anke about podencos currently in Valencia perrera.

‘It is a very bad situation: I can’t get them out, nor any other dog because some other volunteers have debts with the perrera. So the perrera will not release dogs, only to private adoptions (no further costs involved). I have been trying to secure them but in vain.

  • Animales Rioja urgently need help to feed the dogs…

From Pilar. ‘We are writing to you to ask for your help VERY URGENT for our economic plight, as the construction of the new shelter has emptied the coffers and we are in the red at the bank. We cannot keep building, do not even have money to feed the dogs or take some of them who are waiting for the vet to see. It is very serious and distressing even € 10.00 will help. • Valencia perrera – podencas on death row

Valencia 2 girls 250 6 2013Podenca female, very shy, afraid if you speak to her, she looks like she is paralyzed, completely still. As if she doesn’t see anyone. She has a lot of sadness in her eyes. She is with the ‘invisible’ small oldie podenca. And another oldie – CESE fast track podenca, born in 2003, too old to hunt. Her name is Joya. She is in total shock, does not move, does not look at you, stares at the wall, does not respond to an affectionate word. Looks as though she has had a rough life. Her owner did not go to the vet because he wants the dirty work of killing her to be done by someone else and not pay for it!
