  • France – home for rescue dogs

    I have been contacted by a reader with the following offer.

    Rural France – a 2-bed property with outbuildings and land totally enclosed by 2m high fence, water and electricity. It is available to someone or a couple for fostering rescued hounds for adoption. Maximum total of dogs allowed by French law is 9 at any one time. The owner lives next door with their own 9 dogs and the property is offered rent free to a suitable applicant. If you are interested in being considered, please contact me in the first instance.

  • Jaen, Spain – House of Horror

    Jaen house of horrors room 4 250These podencos were discovered in a finca – chained to the wall so they could barely even lie down – in filth, starving…a denuncia has been made and authorities contacted to help them. A couple were rescued but then the volunteers were accused of trespassing! A petition has been raised to demand the authorities take action against the owner and save the dogs.   • It’s a Dog’s Life – Tails from Pepis Refuge

  • Another cruelty case on Tenerife

    Santa 250 9 11 2014This poor soul is a Podenca Canario which was dumped in a Tenerife perrera by her hunter owner, after a lifetime of producing babies – and starvation. She could barely stand, had a huge abcess on her face and a fever. She is being cared for by the vets of Albergue Comarcal Valle Colino. Once the fever had subsided, the abcess was removed but an inoperatble tumour was discovered on her face.

    These are the updates from Ailsa Mcgibney from 9th November. An offer of a comfortable loving home has been made, where Santa, as she has been named, can live out her days.

    First up is Izzy, a 13 week old Podenco Maneto and will be small when fully grown, about the size of a Jack Russell. She s fully vaccinated and passported and is adorable and full of fun .

    Madison (brown & white) is 5 months old and was saved form the hands of a vet who had her tied to a wall for ten days waiting to put her to sleep! She is an adorable Podenco mix and is very very loving and playful. She sleeps on the sofa in the living room at night and is a very chilled wee girl. She is passported and fully vaccinated
