In Valencia – an older Podenca hoping for a forever home
I adopted Rosely 18 months ago. She was 9 years old but very lively and loves long walks, and has a dog-wagging tail – it never stops unless she is frightened!In Valencia. ‘This is an older girl hoping for a forever home. Female, she had no chip, older and very scared, she will be about 8 or 9 years old, found in Llombai, very scared, but then she is a treasure. It’s clear she’s had bad experiences.
She urgently needs a foster home or, even better, a forever home. She doesn’t deserve to end up in a cage. We named her Pinky.

Advice – Canine Brucellosis

There have been a number of reports of some veterinary Clinics in the UK that any one that has brought a dog into the UK from overseas. They are now insisting it is tested for Brucellosis before they are willing to treat it .. I have attached a link below from an article from the British Veterinary Association recommending protocols ti be put in place ..
This will also include breeders importing dogs and possibly people who travel overseas with their dogs..
My concern is your dog needs emergency treatment and it is delayed until the blood results are back, it may be too late.
Asking some of our adopters it seems that the private practices are not making this request but the bigger practices that are owned by companies are doing so. Even dogs that have been in the UK for a number of years with no symptoms. -
What happened to this injured podenco?
Sad story about an injured podenco. The fate of many who are injured and abandoned by the sub-human hunters.
‘The guy who sounded the alarm and then went to look for the dog wrote this to us:
“My friends were on the bikes and I don’t know if they could take him, we were on Sunday until 11 looking for him and it only cost us a fight with the property owner.” It’s pretty far off. We haven’t been able to do more, other than we work during the week and can’t go. “
The boys on the bikes were looking for him where they saw him and the owner of the estate threatened to shoot them if they did not leave there, when I finally let them explain, the guy already knew about the dog, they believe the dog was theirs and that in the conditions that the dog there could not have gone very far and yet no matter how much they looked they didn’t see it.
They believe the guy is a boar hunter and injured him and probably left it like that or shot him.
If anyone is determined to go and know more about this case write to us in private and we will give more details.An appeal was raised on facebook ‘Have you seen this poor dog that seems to have been attacked by a boar, we only have the location I share because they don’t know what to do in case someone can approach.’

Special forever home needed for disabled Podenca

Beautiful white podenca JULIETA is currently in Malaga, Spain and looking for a very special family because she is disabled following an accident. She is very sweet, very loving and only a year and a half old. In the house her back legs will drag behind her and out and about she will need wheels. But with the right help her life can be so dignified, happy and fulfilling, and I can vouch absolutely that podencos are the loveliest souls you can be blessed to share YOUR life with! A podenca by your side is to have an angel by your side.
For Julieta her guardian angel rescuer is Álvaro MP. He has saved her life as she was to be put to sleep in the pound in Spain, he is now paying for her vet work and physiotherapy and organising her wheels! But he needs to find that one special person who will give her the happy, loved future she so deserves.

2 podencos urgently in need of a foster home
From Almanival‘We are asking for help for this couple of podencos, urgently a home for both, but the dog is very pregnant. If they could be taken in so she could have her pups in safety. Otherwise she is on her own to have them and who knows if there will be problems, and they will be born outside.
The owner, lives in the city, the dogs in a village far away and he works outside, which he can’t go to see them almost every week.
Foster homes needed one male one female. They are 2 years old.

Malaga – animal cruelty in the extreme!

‘I want to ask for help these poor dogs which spend day and night in this way, tied up and without barely food and water. They don’t stop crying and barking with despair. There is one that escaped and is by the station of Cartama, and it has a rope cut in his neck. It’s very afraid and does not approach anyone. I’ve reported it to Seprona in Malaga capital.
