  • Podencos Angels Italy – adopting the Lanzarote podencos

Podencos are the most used hunting dogs in the Canary Islands and Adopta podenco de Lanzarote rely on adopters on mainland Europe for homes for their podencos, cruelly abandoned by the hunters. Some are adopted in Scandinavia where there are no abandoned dogs or shelters.

Some are adopted in Italy through Podencos Angels. Not always sure that is a good idea as Italy also has a problem of abandoned dogs.

  • Puntanimals Shelter in Umbria,Huelva – Podenco Frijolito hoping for a forever home

Puntanimals Shelter in Huelva has hundreds of dogs in their care, all hoping for forever homes. Not surprisingly the large majority are gorgeous galgos, but here’s a very sweet podenco hoping for a forever home. Contact puntanimals@hotmail.com if you can offer him that home.

And here’s the story about Puntanimals.

    https://www.puntanimals.org/nuestra-historia/

Puntanimals is a non-profit association created to help abandoned and mistreated animals. The idea was born from the hands of a fighter, animal lover who wanted his dream of helping those most in need to come true. We are located in the town of Punta Umbría (Huelva). Since before having the shelter, we already collected the animals that we found and we looked for a home where they were safe and had their needs covered. Officially we have been operating since 2011, it was when we decided to rent a place to be able to protect all the animals while we look for a definitive and responsible adoption for them.

  • Protectora Scooby – 100s of dogs needing feeding and forever homes

This is a weblink to the hundreds of dogs in Protectora Scooby shelters in Medina del Campo, Valladolid, Zamorra and Palencia. There are a few podencos in there.

The main purpose of this post is a) to illustrate just how many dogs are in the Scooby shelters hoping for forever homes and b) to appeal for help to fund them all. This isn’t counting all the horses, donkeys, cats, poultry, goats, cows…all rescued by Scooby and needing food and medication.

Please help, even if it’s just to join Teaming please help.

  • Podencos on Lanzarote – the Noble Hounds

With somany appeals from mainland Spanish rescues for foster/adoption of podencos, it’s easy to overlook how many podencos there are in the Canary Islands. They are used far more for hunting than galgos, and suffer just as much maltreatment. Weblink to an interesting article about Podencos on Lanzarote.

  • Galgo Rescue Almeria – Podenco Campaneros find their forever family

    GRA Patan podenco 2 400
Just over a year ago on August 10, we remember a memorable period in the existence of GRA.

A year ago, the doors of Patan were closed and sealed by Seprona due to severe animal neglect.

For about 120 dogs but also other animals: cats, chickens, rabbits,… even a pig, the neglect came to an end. Several Rescue centers joined forces to receive the victims and guide them to a new life. 11 Galgos and 3 Podencos were housed at Galgo’s Rescue Almeria, all in bad shape and some even in very critical condition. The “life” they had must have been hell. Malnourished, no or dirty drinking water, poo everywhere, covered in ticks,…..

Meanwhile, almost all of the sweethearts who ended up at GRA, after their rehabilitation and treatment against various tick diseases, found their golden basket.

  • Protectora Scooby – please help feed our animals

    Horses need hay 1 400
    HELP FOR OUR PLEASE

Last year, climatologically speaking, was very bad for our sanctuary residents, and this year is coming just as or even worse…

The forage is scarce and we are having to buy a lot of thought to elders to keep our animals well fed, assuming this a great economic discharge.

We have sown alfalfa and we are hoarding and taking advantage of all that we can, but this is not enough for the 50 horses and donkeys and the 46 sheep and goats who live in our Sanctuary, so we ask help for them, so they can have the happy life that they deserve.
