  • Chiclana, Cadiz – little wounded podenca Camila needs help

Podenca with leg wound 400 7 2016On the many journeys I have made into Spain on rescues, to bring galgos and podencos back to France for foster and homing, there have been several tripod podencos. These poor hounds often get onto land where illegal metal snares have been set. This is an example of what can happen, although it’s know know how this poor podenco ended up in such a state. But rest assured, she has been rescued and is in the vet clinic. Here’s the story.

‘She’s already rescued and has been named Camila after Santa Camila, the day of rescue and hopefully Santa Camila will protect her. She has been operated on and is recovering well with a good prognosis. She will stay for a few days in the veterinary clinic of Chiclana Avila Forner, Cadiz.

  • Feral podenco Bobby needs your help

Super sighthound Bobby 1 400This poor little podenco is Bobby-New-Butt?

‘1. This little boy is ferral born and was saved from one of the worst perreras a few months ago near Malaga when he and his pack was caught by the authorities. Hence he is super shy of people.

2, As his name suggests Bobby quite literally needed a new bum. Once Bobbies new bum healed and worked fine we were all relaxed and happy. But from one day to an other he showed discomfort and pain and headed down a slippery slope very quickly to screaming every time had to do a poo.

We ordered numerous tests and X-rays and blood works to figure out what was wrong but all came back negative and Bobby was getting worse and worse.

After tragically losing Henrick Whiteface his packmate to a freak accident I could not believe we may lose this little boy too.

So the endoscopy was ordered and it didn’t come back pretty.

  • Podenca Tasha now safe with PEPA – waiting for a forever home

Pepa tasha body 2 400TASHA’s STORY

“Lots of people have been involved with this little one. She was with Kirsty for a few months then with a foster home near Javea and now she has been with Jacky Hazeleger since November.

Tasha was picked up 28/07/2015 after having been ignored in all likelihood for many months by people walking past. We only found out about her when PEPA was involved in another rescue and were alerted by Christina Royce that there was an injured podenco. Tasha had a broken hip and leg she had been like this for many months and no one did anything! Can you imagine the pain she must have been in?

It does not end there. Tasha had Sarnia; she needed painful antibiotic injections to heal her coat; this not bad enough she also tested positive for leishmaniosis and rickettsia ( now very low level leishmaniosis) so we had to wait even longer to do her operation. Finally on the 27th October this poor broken girl had her operation. She was very broken not just her bones but her spirit – she wanted nothing to do with people and it has taken her a long time to get where she is now.”

  • Mike in Axarquia, Spain –

Axarquia Animal Mike 400 7 2016Axarquia Animal Rescue would like to introduce you to this little puppy MIKE (AAR1528) DOB 17.05.2016

Hello…I was dumped by the bins at Puente without my mum when I was 3 weeks old. I was really scared but pretended to be brave as my siblings were frightened too. I did not know why the people took us away, we were too little to have been naughty. I was sure my mum would come and find us, but she didn’t. I hope she’s ok.

After lots of asking, a kind lady called Sue offered to look after us until we were old enough to leave.
Well, now I am nearly big enough and I need a home with a comfy bed as my foster mummy Sue says I sleep a lot. I am a happy boy and love playing but I’m a bit quieter than my brother Pete. As you can see, I love smiling for the camera and I can help you in the garden. I get on with the dogs here so wouldn’t mind if I had a new brother or sister. I have so much love in my little heart, all I need now is a family of my own to give it to.

Contact axarquia-rescue@hotmail.com Please share my little post with your friends as they could know someone who might love me. Thank you, Mike xxx
