Hunters outside the garden – could you live with this?! Many in Spain have to.
This is what Jane and Alan at Pepis Dog Refuge now have to face for the next few months. Bloody hunters on the hillside with their podencos and guns, upsetting the rescued dogs in the shelter. Bastards. As Jane says, it could be that some of these podencos will end up in the refuge when they either get lost or dumped.

90 podencos of Mogan, Gran Canaria – one year on
Do you remember this heartbreaking story? This is the latest update – you will be as heartbroken as me to read that no matter how hard the team try to get some action, they are no further forward.
‘These 90 podencos continue today (11-08-2016) in the same situation of abuse after three years after being condemned by a local protective. These images are repeated today in the new location after a metal plates under the sweltering heat because the owner responsible fled to another municipality in the month of December 2015. The matter is now in the hands of the examining court no. 1 of Telde after two and a half years of municipal bureaucracy.

Please sign and share. It’s a petition suggesting creating a Spanish national register of animal abuser. Maybe if it happens, then more people will be willing to make denuncias and more people will be prosecuted. Wouldn’t it be great if it could work on the galgueros!

URGENT – Podenca Mom and Pups need saving before the hunters get them!
I know shelters are full to overflowing but please please can someone help this podenca mom and her pups. She’s a stray and she and the pups are at grave risk from hunters before the season starts again in September.

Safe at last – now little podenca Iona needs a leg amputation
Lynn Pauludros lives in Northern France and works tirelessly to help the Spanish galgos and podencos, adopting some herself. Many podencos get caught in vicious metal snares and end up needing a leg amputation – I’ve brought several out myself with the L’Europe des Levriers team.
Lynn has appealed for help to pay the vet bill for this little podenca to have a hind leg amputation, please donate a little if you can.
