  • Podenca abandoned – a complicated rescue by SOS Rescue

    SOS Rescue 400 17 4 2022
From Vincente Cervero Lopez, a member of Paws for Freedom: united for Galgos and podencos.

‘A complicated rescue, in which this little podenca did not want to enter a cage trap due to absolute distrust, but thanks to the union of the SOS RESCUE SEVILLA, SOS RESCUE MARBELLA AND SOS RESCUE CÁDIZ team they were able to organize a great rescue with nets closing streets to be able to catch her without that there was a chance of escape.

The podenca had been in the same area for more than 2 months, and through REFUGIOKIMBA they gave us the notice so that we could try to help it. We couldn’t get her to enter the cage since all the people in the area who saw her fed her, between that and her mistrust we had to schedule a rescue with nets in which everything went perfectly.

Thanks to Rosa for giving the notice, informing us of all her movements and making her a routine all this time. Thanks to Olga and Marisa for spreading the word to find people to help us in the rescue. Thanks to Santi, Jose, Manuel, Ana, Pablo, Cintia, José and Mónica for helping us in the rescue and in general to all those who were willing to come and help.

Thanks to the Kimba Shelter for taking over UMA.

  • Refugio de Sori, Hellin, Albacete – helping podencos and other abandoned animals

    Refugio de Sori logo 400
    From Polly Mathewson.

‘News from our friends at Refugio de Sori in Hellin, Albacete: Azzura currently has an all clear for her cancer, and she has moved in with a local FOSTER FAMILY IN SPAIN! Do enjoy her new photos and videos to see how happy she is, and please read on for more background, more on her story & how to donate to help Azzura and her dog-friends.

Dear Friends and Family of the “In Kennels & In-Visible” dogs – our little “rolling” pack of Spaniards we have taken under our wing together, some heartening news for this beautiful soulful girl who many of you know, but maybe not all of you. Our “Invisibles” are generally dogs without a sponsoring rescue association who we help directly to get out of a large commercial rural kennels near Tobarra in Albacete province where they have landed up for a number of reasons. And of course new dogs keep on landing up there and in desperate need… the terrible reality for countless animals across Spain.

  • 2 podencos rescued in a terrible state – please donate to vet fees with Spanish Death Row Dogs

    Judge podenco 3 400
From Lynn Judge and Spanish Death Row Dogs.

    ‘RESCUED!

Phew what a stressful afternoon it’s been!!! Thank goodness they BOTH finally took the bait and entered the cage. We couldn’t rescue one and leave the other. We have had to be so patient and wait for couple weeks trying to rescue them. They are in an awful state and scared to death so goodness knows what they’ve experienced in their short little lives. But we want to change all that and now the hard work begins…….

BUT we can’t do it without your help. We will need to do full bloods, tests and maybe X-ray for the poor one that is limping. Please please we are now begging for funds to help these two babies. They don’t know it yet but their lives are about to get a whole lot better. We will keep you updated with further news.

Anything you can spare would be fantastic. Thank you’

  • Podenco Friends – Bella on the mend

    Bev Bella 400 30 3 2022
    From Bev Farmer.

‘After a thorough assessment at our vets Bella’s neurological responses are good pupils equal and reacting normally. Did a full blood panel and everything is fine no indication of any infection, kidney liver function normal.

They are treating her for canine idiopathic vestibular syndrome (see separate post) Bella is coming up to 11 years old but she is a very fit and active dog you would never know she is a senior. She had 5 injections at our vets and they have sent her home with 2 types of antibiotics and Prednisone. With instructions to keep a close eye on her that she doesnt have a fall and hit her head, however to encourage her to walk on a lead.

She is kind of out of it at the moment, I took her for a potter round the paddock on a lead, she turned her nose up at her normal dinner, so got some chicken and rice cooking for her.

  • Tanamera Rescue – urgent help needed for rescued Podenca

From Jacky Hazelger of Tanamera Rescue.

‘appeal for ZENA – see video

ZENA will need a surgery next week. Abandoned and left on her own with a broken leg. End of the hunting season, and obviously vet costs would be high.

So here we are, we have taken responsability for another dog that was abandoned, and this will cost a 1000 euros to begin with (assuming she has no illnesses, like leish). On top of all other dogs we already care for.

Surgery 600, xrays, sterilisation, chip, vaccines, worming, seresto and bloodtests. Not even including food costs or petrol.

Luckily Jenny Screen will foster her for us so we don’t have to to pay residencia costs.

Can you help us pay the bills for Zena?

  • Animal Rescue Spain – podenco saved just in time

Animal Rescue Spain starved podenco 2 400
Animal Rescue España is asking for donations.

It was dusk when Luis and Arantxa, who were on a trip in Almeria, saw a skeletal podenca asking for help with the gaze, without strength. They called us and we decided to help them, she deserved it. They moved her to Madrid and now Genovesa, which they have called her, starts her new life with us. It is pure bone, hunger and abandonment, spoiled inhumanity, accomplices of this abuse for ignoring this injustice.

Help us save Genoese with a donation, among all we will make it possible.

Will you help us continue saving lives?

  • URGENT help needed for a little podenca

    Morena Rut podenca 400 2 2022
    Please help.

    From Moreno Rut.

@Patitas por el Mundo is a tiny association of only two people, Angeles and Virginia in Huelva. They are literally drowning in abandoned animals and it turns out that they rescued this little girl and she is epileptic and already all her possible adoptions have fallen and have no way to pay for her treatment or home. So she is quiet and they do not even have funds to pay for the residences and the others. This situation is very serious

It’s a complete love of a dog, only 5 kilos and is looking for responsible adoption because she has epilepsy and these two women are helping her after rescuing her but her tests and feeding are very expensive and they have run out of money. In fact, they’ve had to ask for a loan to pay debts because there’s no donations to feed the cat colonies, nor the dogs on the street or pay the vet bills and still, they’re still drowning helping animals.
