Hind leg dew claws – what to do about them
One of the podencos recently rescued from Valencia perrera is Ray, a rough-haired boy who is now in foster with Bev Farmer. He was recently castrated and, at the same time, his rear dew claws removed.
I’ve lived with all types of dogs all my life and been in involved in the rescue of a few hundred, especially from Spain, and I’ve not come across a dog with rear dew claws. So I asked Bev about it and also found this information on the Internet.

Bogus RSPCA callers – animal owners beware – please circulate!
Please see message below that was received today from a trusted source. Could you all send to everyone in your address book, with lots of eyes looking for this van there’s much more chance of them getting caught.
When I was halfway to Kent doing deliveries this morning I had a phone call from my son, apparently the RSPCA were at my door. I have seen a white van with lowercase letters ‘rspca’ (NOT their Logo) in my road for the last 2 days with the occupant seemingly just walking around ? Luckily, having seen the van, I had reminded my children just yesterday that if they come, they do NOT come in, they do NOT see my dogs, and they must come back when myself and/or my husband are here.

Quinolones – a very serious health risk – Kate’s story
This story is a health warning about Quinolone antibiotics. It is a blog by an amazing lady whose life story would astound you. Kate now lives in Spain but for many years lived in France. She has been an animal lover all her life. Her life has been destroyed after being prescribed quinolone antibiotics. She says ‘I only had cystitis and it wasn’t even an infection, just severe inflammation, so I didn’t need any antibiotic, let alone a toxic one. That is the case for vast numbers of people – the majority who are prescribed quinolones, I reckon.’
