  • Podenca Nieve – another survivor of hunting in Spain

    Nieves 250 1 10 2012Poor Nieve – just 1 1/2 years old, injured in a road accident. (photo when she was picked up) Her leg has now been operated on and the pins holding it have been removed, she doesn’t even walk with a limp! She is very quiet, calm and loving, good with children and other dogs. What a stunner – look at her now!

  • European Collective for Protection of Greyhounds & Galgos

    European Collective for protection of Hounds logoTogether with several organisations, notably Galgos Ethique Europe and l”Arche de Levriers, Greyhounds Rescue Holland has worked on the foundation of the Collectif Europeen pour la protection des Levriers, in English known as the European Collective for the Protection of Hounds.

    Following discussions and consultations with the office of the Member of European Parliament Mrs. Striffler, (she is the MEP who marched with us in Strasbourg in March 2012), it is clear that the only way forward is a collective and sustained effort by European organisations and European participation of the public. No small feat indeed and we are well aware that it will be a difficult uphill climb. But the bigger the challenge, the stronger the determination!

  • Seville – 3 Podenco Andaluz searching for homes

    Macu Billy 9 2012 250Seville podencos desperately needing homes. Little Billy is still waiting, rescued from the hands of a galguero. He’s 6 months old and vaccinated. He’s in a kennels at the moment, no place for a puppy to grow up. The other two are Bolo and Tadeo. They are all in Sevilla.

    BOLO (below) is two years old and weighs 10 kg. He has very good character, gets along well with dogs and cats. He has been sterilized. TADEO (below left)is two and a half years old and weighs 11 kg. He has very good character, gets along well with dogs. He has been sterilized.

    Lucky 1 200Live near Alcaucin? This is Lucky, who had been missing since June 26th; he simply did not come home from his daily morning walk in the campo of Alcaucin. His owner fears he has been stolen. Note he has one white paw (circled in red).

    Lucky is castrated, chipped and vaccinated; he is allergic against food and “ambiente” therefore he absolutely needs his medicine (Atopica)

    All these dogs are given up for adoption dewormed, vaccinated, passport or primer and microchipped, plus the fee for adoption.

    Jerez podenca 3 200This young podenco bitch, has had puppies, is 2 m from the main highway in Jerez. She is crossing fields and roads without knowing where go go. She has a hernia which needs operating on. She is very good, can be easily caught if someone can take her.   • Urgent – Cordoba Podenco to be killed by hunter – need a safe place for her

    Cordoba podenco 200 1 9 2012Urgently need to find somewhere for this beautiful little 2yr old podenca which the hunter does not want because she won’t hunt. He’s now going to kill her. She’s in a tiny kennel with two others, with only water, filthy dirty with excrement. In a town near Cordoba.
