In this link, the report is that the Local Poll.ice say the dogs are in good condition, it is in the area of Maldona on La Palma. However, because of the photos circulated by Aanipal on Social Media, the Mayor of Santa Cruze was forced to take action, the owner of the dogs gave temporary access and there is a lawyer appointed to mediate between Aanipal and the owner. (Apparently there are other caves on the Island where dogs are incarcerated in these conditions!)
5 podencos were rescued from the mountain prison. One has severe dermatitis skin problems and Aanipal are appealing for donations of salmon to feed her and other dogs suffering the same problem. I have asked for a contact for where to send it, as they are only on facebook. Here are the latest photos below of the 5 podencos enjoying the sunshine, plus pups with one of the bitches!
Here’s what Aanipal say.
‘We need some salmon for her. She’s the skinny one who came and also has skin dermatitis.
It is not the only animal we have in the shelter which needs this kind of feed for its skin, which we are spending quickly. If anyone can get us some bags, we appreciate it from heart
We would like to make the following clarifications:
1. There are people who complain that the assignment is temporary, and they complain directly to our association as if we were to rule the laws. If we haven’t got more, it’s because it couldn’t. So far, these animals would still be in a cave, not for everything that has been worked out for them these days.
They have come out of there, something that has not been achieved so far and as small as it is, it is an achievement.
2. The investigation remains open so we cannot give more information on the case at the moment.
And 3… we got this. Which is what we really care about.
We them in our shelter. Enjoying the love, the sun and the walks of our volunteers. Where they will receive the care they deserve, or at least everyone we can give them. ❤
