Update from Manuela Cornejo on Reina, the little podenca badly injured on a road in Feria, Badajoz.
16/1/2017 – The latest news I have of Reina is that perhaps with the splint she has on her right leg, it has corrected the dislocation and the vet will not need to re-operate surgically.
The following is the Thank You from Manuela for everyone’s help in this case. If you donated to the vet fees, the thanks are to you too.
‘I can not be happier and grateful. Our Reina already, runs and besides a sponsor that will cover all the expenses of the total medical recovery, has found a human mother (Astrid Mulder) in Holland.
Yes, I’m excited and write this with a lump in my throat and with tears in my eyes. I do not know how to thank you, how to give back to everyone who, without knowing me personally, you have trusted me and with this appeal, you have saved the life of a wonderful being, our Reina.
I have to thank Reina for giving me the opportunity to meet people like you (I want to put your names because you are not anonymous for me), people of solidarity, sensitive and generous.
Reme Mendoza (the Triathlon champion of Spain and member of my candidacy for the mayoralty of my town) I adore her. Few people know that they have a heart as big as the one she has. She only had to know that Reina could be sacrificed, for her to mobilize all her contacts and that those of Recal (association) would return to her the love and commitment with the animals.
Recal Refugio Canino – what to say. They made a great exception welcoming Reina because they only take care of abandoned dogs in the village of Almendralejo. And, they have saved her life.
To Jose Marí, thank you for listening to me when I was distressed for not knowing what to do with the one who delegated to me the obligation to procure a better life for Reina.
To Marta Manso thank you, thank you. Without your words, without your encouragement, without your moral and economic support, without your example, this would not have been possible.
To Beryl Brennan (lover and defender of podencos and greyhounds, author of the blog http://www.podencopost.com thousands of thanks. You have made it possible for Reina to have a new and better life. Without you, without your guidance, without your diffusion, without your information, without your advice, without your encouragement, without your moral and economic support (you were the first in everything) what would I have done?
Podencoworld Netherland, the quiet helpers (I know what you have done in silence) I will be eternally grateful to you.
And, to you, Astrid Mulher, the future Mom of our Reina and her future brother Takkie, I love you and, as I told you by chatting, you have an unconditional friend in me. Watching Takkie’s birthday I know that our Reina will be the new queen of Holland, who will not miss anything and who will finally be happy, will have the life she deserves and she will give you all the love she keeps in her little heart and all the Reme and me.
To all, that I do not want to extend much more because I do not stop to cry of the emotion, thanks. Thank you for being there, for sharing, for taking time to think and send good vibes to Reina, our Queen.
Here you have me for what you need.
Manuela
