This link will take you to a Spanish blog by an animal lover living in the Alicante area who desperately wants some help with a problem of hunting dogs in a dire situation. This is a translation of his article.
HUNTING dogs abused in BENISSA – we have a “neighbour” here in Benissa, Alicante with 6 hunting dogs chained and had imprisoned in a small 2 x 2 mm hole covered with Tin… temperatures in the summer go to more than 50 degrees, dogs suffer terribly, they cry and are barking day and night and live and die in hell on their own “shit”…
My wife and my mother-in-law are traumatized by this cruelty, ave sent our complaint to the City Council, and after 8 months they responded that ‘what do we expect when living in the country’. I have pictures taken of these dogs and their suffering but not sure what to do with them as no one here seems to want to know anything?’
Sadly this is a situation which many Brits ‘retiring’ to live in sunny Spain experience, this is why so many of them are heavily involved in rescue, rehoming, fostering. Is you have suggestions, contact him.
One of the advantages of facebook (and like many of you there are many things to hate about it!) is that an appeal like this can be posted on my Podenco Post facebook page and the offers of help and suggestions appear almost instantly. So, within a couple of hours of posting this appeal on that page, I was able to pass on suggestions of associations in the Benissa, Alicante area, where there are people who can help with suggestions to help.

Susan – you can click on the facebook symbol beneath the post, or you can go on my Podenco Post facebook page and share it from there.
Update on the situation from Tony.
During the last week Beryl, Vicente the keeper of the dogs, has been keeping the area relatively clean and the dogs are not chained up, nor do they bark and cry all the time… both the Protectora and Seprona have responded as a result of the blog and the massive amount of interest over 5/6 days and they BOTH say they will be monitoring the dogs over the next few weeks?
