Torrevieja Perrera is my local dog pound and has been criticised along with many perreras in Spain but Torrevieja I have been saying is one of the better ones not perfect in any way but better than most.

We have a new councillor of Animal Protection who is determined to change the perrera for the better. It will now be known as The Alberque Municipal and before the vet was never to be seen apart from microchipping and then she would turn up at her own time as I well know hanging about to get a podenco chipped from there.

It now has volunteers to clean out the cat houses and the dogs are walked three times a week by volunteers so this is much better than the boredom these dogs have had before.

Carmen Moratet the new councillor will be at the event Town Meets Country which will be held in Torrevieja on the 14th November. This is an event to let people know of the existance of the perrera and focus on animal welfare and information. Money raised will be going to the perrera and it will be a fun day out with lots of animal attractions, a fun dog show with many prizes to be won .. its like going to the village fete with lots of games for all the family.

Last Hope Dog Recue ….Hope for Podencos has the privilege of being asked as one of the three charities to attend this event. Inca my first podenco came from the perrerw here in Torrevieja

It will be held in Avda Torrevieja Cortes Valencianas 74 behind the U2 petrol station.
