Hell on earth in Spain for the podencos – mainland or Spanish islands!

La Linea injured podenca 250 02 05 2011 This is a sad story of podencos at the bottom of Spain, La Linea, near Cadiz and opposite Gibraltar. Podenco World tells the story of Peter’s Diary, Peter runs the La Linea animal shelter, 600 dogs including 200 podencos.

Pedro’s Diary: Crimes against innocent podencos.

This podenca did not make it, a Podenco Ibicenca that was hit by a car. Paco (a volunteer of the shelter) and his father wwere out walking and the animal was deliberately hit! The strange thing is that nobody did anything. Paco was with his three foster dogs out for a walk and had no phone with him, so he was out of breath because it took him 20 minutes to run the shelter and let us know.

I immediately drove to the site but even though we were there right away, we were not able to save her, she was paralyzed, broken back, not even a year old and already her candle blown out.

La Linea podenca 250 1 02 05 2011 A second call from the police, not of our police from Flintstone Village, but from outside of the Guardia Civil. A neandertal man had at the big roundabout, at the toll Manilva Casares, a starving podenco tied to a tree with plastic tape that was today, also on this same roundabout 3 days puppies were abandoned!

Manilva is a small hole without a shelter, Estepona Adana is the nearest but their phone is no longer accessible, and all dogs are removed and eliminated by the dog catchers of El Paraiso. But even that did not happen, you can imagine how we, Triple A and Mijas are under pressure in these tough times!

La Linea puppies 250 02 05 2011 I was at Helma picking up furniture in Manilva and just drove by. What a sad country! ! The poor starved soul was sitting there shaking, taped to the tree. And the three puppies that have nothing to do with this podenco were there too. An African couple, who happened to be there and last year adopted a dog from us, helped me to collect the dogs. See photos of the podenco girl of 1 year old and the puppies.

I have contacted the head of our village because the police sometimes move a found puppy to my house etc etc I said this needs to be dealt with and I have an appointment next Monday. Best regards, Peter at the shelter in La Linea. (a shelter of 600 dogs and 200 podencos).’

Sadly the podenca taped to the tree had internal bleeding and died.

Its a crime beyond crimes.. the abandonment which continues to show with unscrupulous breeding which ends up in mass abandonment… continues and continues until education steps up for the younger generation.
Thanks for caring for these poor creatures. I’m pretty much around the corner from la Linea, so if needing help please ask. Charl 112carlotagalgos
