  • Podenco Noel – the hung hound of Cadiz

    Scooby hung podenco 250 31 12 2015The hung hound

The title could also be: cruelty goes on and on and on…From Cadiz Scooby took this Podenco. He had just been found with the rope still round his neck. It is a miracle how he did survive with this deep wound at all but he did. He has been treated by the vet, and he is already living in Fermin´s pack with a big bandage around his
    neck. He’s been named Noel.

He has been promised a home where he will find love and protection forever. Could it be with you??

  • Podencos – adopt from an association – the refuges are full to bursting!

Scooby podenco cooeee 190 8 2015Thumbs up for the Podenco Andaluz! Coooeeee, I am Mickey at the back my galga girlfriend Olijfje and my friend Marleentje. We are adopted in Holland but I have many friends like me in Scooby in Spain who need a home themselves. We are little Podenco Andaluz, we are
very easy going, we love people and we are very friendly and careful with little children. In the house we are quite like galgo’s but we are hunters and we like to make your garden mouse free. Hope you will give my Scooby friends a chance.

ALWAYS adopt from a recognised rehoming association, never adopt straight from a perrera where the dogs have not been character tested etc.

  • Podenca Tula – waiting at Scooby Valladolid for her forever home

Scooby Tula.crop 250 JPGThis beautiful podenca is Tula; she’s in the Scooby Residencia Valladolid, which I visited recently on my latest trip to Spain. Tula is a very timid, quiet Podenca Andaluz who came to Scooby from a perrera in Sevilla where they were going to euthanise her.

She is about 2 years old and has the most beautiful, but sad eyes. She is very timid but gains confidence when she sees the same person regularly. Then she comes to you and you can touch and pet her without problem. As shelter is not the place for her, where she sits in a corner, trembling because of all the strangers she sees. She is not afraid of other dogs, they give her a bit more confidence.

  • Anna, Xativa, Valencia – abandoned podenca needs somewhere to go

Anna podenca 1 250 12 2011This is an urgent appeal for someone to take in this beautiful young podenca. She is in Anna, near Xativa in the Province of Valencia. This is the story from the lady who wants to save her.

‘I have been feeding her since October. I live in Anna which is about 20 minutes from Xativa. I have contacted PEPA and she is on their website but they have nowhere for her to go. I have also contacted SOS Galgos. No one seems able to help.

She has a problem with her leg and she will need an operation which I would be happy to pay for. I do not want to remove her until I have somewhere for her to go.

  • Scooby Auction 15th May – Donations urgently needed

Scooby appeal banner 200 Dear friends,

It is hard to believe that this year will be our 3rd Scooby North America Auction. Actually, we are having 2 auctions this year. One in June and another in December. In the past two years, with your help we have raised enough money to help install a much-needed tile floor in the Hospital and Surgery Center and build numerous brick shelters in the paddocks at the Scooby Animal Refuge in Medina del Campo, Spain.

This year we are hoping that with your generosity we can build a much needed puppy house. The puppy house will be fully insulated, including the floor. There will be whelping boxes for mom and her pups and a doggy door for the mothers to use the outside areas before the puppies are ready. There will also be room for them to play and romp around and of course beds for them to sleep without always having to be under foot.

  • Scooby Medina appeals for homes for beautiful podencos

Scooby Kilo 04 2011 250 This is a plea from Scooby Medina looking for foster and forever homes for these beautiful podencos. Here’s what Eva says. ‘The Refugio Abyda shelter in Jaen needs help. Scooby and I have been able to rescue 6-8 dogs in the last few months, but we are packed at the shelter, so I can’t take any more dogs into our shelter unless they already have a place to go. Please contact Scooby if you can help. These beauties so deserve to know love and comfort for the rest of their lives.

Kiko is podenco of about 5 years, measuring 56 cm and weighs 11 kg. He was very malnourished when found but is now in good health and should gain even a little weight. An art student found him abandoned on the street. He watched the dog for several days, scrabbling around the garbage bins. He was sorry for him and put him in a flat used as a studio for painting. The problem is that the people there
