And another in Seville – a 4 months old podenco puppy left in the street, wandering lost. I won’t print the rest of the message from Macu, because she’s really let rip at the people who do this – leave a little puppy to fend for itself on the street.
Macu is asking for an association to come forward urgently and take the little podenco so that he can be fostered and adopted and spend the rest of his life loved.

Some time back Ana came to us from Valencia, another down and out podenca tossed out, no longer needed. No long er required and so, left to her devices she roamed the lands. She fed herself and did the best she could. At some point either before tossed out, or after, she succumbed to a terrible break in a hind leg, an infected bone which reinfected, and reinfected.
Urgent Appeal from Cuenca – here’s the link to the Cuenca podencos – there has now been an inspection at the Cuenca Dog Pound and the authorities say there are 100 dogs too many and if they don’t find homes for them asap, then they will be killed.
Urgent appeal to save the lives of 100 dogs. Oscar writes from Cuenca;
‘Milagros from the Cuenca Dog Pound just informed me that the Inspection has been at the pound and that they “counted” 100 dogs too many. Therefore it is extremely urgent to get 100 (ONE HUNDRED) dogs out of there.

‘This little fellow is Julian the Podenco. Last October a Canadian lady named Robin Waldman visited two shelters in Spain. One was suggested by GRIN, near Sevilla, called FBM (Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert). Robin volunteered there and soon met a galgo named Iker that she decided would come back home with her in the Spring.
In the meantime she also met a Podenco named Julian who also won her heart. He had been waiting for so long, no one asked for him.
Another podenco who suffered horrendous treatment at the hands of a Spanish hunter, and was lucky enough to find his forever home in France. Jacqui is another supporter of galgo and podenco rescue and rehoming. She tells the story of Sebas.
This little podenco baby is in Torrevieja perreira. Please can someone get him out! Got a phone no Spain 670027853 (thanks JR) Please, anyone with a contact in Torrevieja, get him out! No dog deserves to die, and certainly not one this young with his life in front of him.
Pati is a young podenca bitch rescued by Galgo Connection Spain with a very badly injured front leg. She was rushed to the vet who operated on it to save it. Silvia of GCS is appealing for donations to help pay the vet fee. Donate via the above link.
Huesca perrera is, like all the rest in Spain, full to overflowing with abandoned dogs – pedigree dogs (4 English setters), puppies, beautiful xbreeds, alsations, labradors…and some podencos.
This is what the vet at Huesca says. ‘ I am Jose and I work in the kennel in Huesca, We try to find a family or people who sponsor the dogs we have, until they are adopted, so first of all thank your for your concern with the dogs because we need people who want to co-operate and help us.

‘I am looking for help for a Podenco who is currently in the SPA in Carcassonne. They are a breed very close to my heart since we rescued one from Spain two years ago, who had been very badly beaten, and we have managed to bring back her joy to live and we adore her – she will never leave us till her life is done!
I have too many rescue dogs here at home (12) to be able to help Snoop, the Podenco in Carcassonne SPA, but I’m desperate for him to find a foster home because he’s ill and needs help to recover.
