  • Podenca pup Luna – in Murcia and looking for her family

Luna head 250 Tina 11 2011This little lady is Luna, She’s a podenca bitch, blind in one eye. Here’s what Tina of Galgos del Sol says about her. She is approx 5 mths old, super friendly and I was told originally lived with gypsies, then somehow ended up in a perrera. One of my helpers found out and I went and picked her up.’

What a great opportunity to adopt a young dog, maybe train her for agility? Certainly the young podencos respond really well to training.

If you can help with her vet fees or, even better, offer her a forever home, contact Galgos del Sol.

  • Podenca Sandy – vet fees of 1,400 euros – can you help Galgos del Sol?

Sandy op Tina 250 08 2011 Last month I told you the lovely tale about a podenca bitch and a puppy she adopted. Both were rescued by Galgos del Sol and have been waiting and hoping for forever homes. We’ve just received news about Sandy, the bitch; she’s had an accident and vet fees for are are 1,400 euros! Galgos del Sol are a small association and shelter, so are appealing for help to pay this.

    Here’s what Tina says.

‘Poor Sandy, and still we don’t really understand what happened.

Sandy had been found with Floyd, at first we thought Floyd was her baby but it’s possible she adopted him. Floyd was always quite rough around Sandy, in and out of her legs, constantly demanding her attention. He adored her, as she adored him.

So could this be how Sandy mysteriously smashed her leg into several pieces? Could it have been rough play gone too far? There is no other explanation. The kennel is 110% safe with nothing to climb on to make her fall, she was fine at her last check just a few hours before finding her holding her leg so really the only theory we can give you is that somehow involving Floyd something went terribly wrong.

    Sandy leg Tina 250 08 2011
Holding her leg in pain she was immediately rushed to the vet. On X-ray it was more than evident her leg was broken but a complicated break, like a jigsaw. A complicated break means a complicated operation and an expensive one at that. Sandy’s vets bill is over 1400 euros to date.

We are pleading for donations to help us pay this bill. No matter how small, we are struggling, we really need help. PP tinasolera@hotmail.co.uk please ref SANDY.

    Thank you.
