  • 2 old podencos – thrown away like trash

    Cruelty has no limits. Two old pods have been thrown over the fence of the shelter El Campito – Salvando Peludos
    Thrown in over a 2.5 m fence. You cared very little about the damage you could do to them.  Disposed like garbage, at the end of their lives, in an act of cowardice and absolute lack of humanity.
    This is the sad and cruel reality facing thousands of hunting dogs. They need urgent help. They need us. We can’t fail them too.

    Perla arrived on Friday 35d July 2015 and we have given her some space but yet another Podenca terrified out of her mind. This is not fear from a change of circumstances, this is from a deeply rooted sustained abuse of some type. She will need many months of help and support to break her out of this world of terror she lives in.

    In the last 3 months we have taken in 5 podencos all very similar issues and it cant be just because they are nervous by nature. Dogs learn by association the positive and the negatives and if treated badly for long enough, establish what hurts them is to be avoided.

  • Little podenco Noa rescued from a living hell – inhuman hunter again!

    Noa 250 8 2012This is little Noa, a podenco of 1 year old. He was found with his mother and another pup in terrible conditions. His moma was in a state of extreme neglect, skeletal, bleeding, with an impressive pyometra, abused, among her excrement, lying there with babies and trampled by more hounds in a shed where this hunter was breeding and selling for hunting!!

    The hunter wanted the baby sacrificed and said it was worthless, some babies died,,, no wonder .. and this poor little one has been struggling for his life, was in a state of extreme thinness, malnourished, unable to suck his mom, who had problems breathing and bleeding and mastitis…
