Danielle tells us about this Podenco Andaluz puppy. ‘This little boy Spok is in desperate need of his forever home, all 6 of his siblings have homes, so he is all alone with no home. I rescued his pregnant mum from a kill shelter. Can anyone give this little boy a home, he is small and will be knee height when fully grown. He loves other dogs, cats and children. He is in Javea, anyone welcome to come and see him. Please help Spok and give him a home he deserves.’ Contact Danielle at the Last Chance Animal Rescue, Malaga.

Sponsor a kennel, sponsor a piece of fencing, sponsor a bag of cement! 112carlotagalgos appeals
Many of the Spanish refuges and associations are very small, existing from month to month on donations, the local councils turning a blind eye to the problem of abandonment of dogs, even though by law they should provide a dog pound.
112carlotagalgos is one such small association in Malaga. Charl del Rio has been working on behalf of the galgos and podencos in Spain for many years, latterly caring for traumatised, injured and sick dogs prior to rehoming. She’s also given talks in local schools about the problem of abandonment of dogs. Her dream has been to have an educational centre where children can visit and learn to respect animals and care for them, especially dogs. Now she hopes her dream is about to come true. But she needs your help. Here’s the story.

A Weak Moment – a Tale of Life with a Spanish hunter…
It’s a common sight on mainland Europe to see hunters in their vehicles, with a small box trailer towing their hunting dogs, squashed in, hardly room to breathe. In Spain, that country well known for sensible laws – I must be joking! – hunters merrily drive around transporting their dogs like that. Yet people licensed legally to transport dogs and cats can be targeted by the authorities. No doubt these authorities are hunters too. We all know they look after their own.
