The title could also be: cruelty goes on and on and on…From Cadiz Scooby took this Podenco. He had just been found with the rope still round his neck. It is a miracle how he did survive with this deep wound at all but he did. He has been treated by the vet, and he is already living in Fermin´s pack with a big bandage around his
neck. He’s been named Noel.
He has been promised a home where he will find love and protection forever. Could it be with you??

Update on Frank (as in frankfurters)/Hoppalong Doggity, Podihopper!
‘Thank you for the donation, very kind of you – on my behalf and on behalf of Hopalong Doggerty. He loathes the cheap dry dogfood – he’s very fussy, considering he was starving and on the streets – so I give him brown rice, boiled with carrots and some broth from my own vegetables till it’s soggy and with a whole tin of sardines added once it’s cooled. I don’t blame him about the dogfood – it’s rubbish. He no longer has diarrhoea. Trouble is, a tin of sardines costs 70 centimos. I got him a worm tablet yesterday and will give it to him later – forgot this morning.
A friend of mine has just rescued a podenco in terrible condition…two boys helped her catch him. She is in an area with a lot of hunters and gitanos. She suffers from ill health and has not the means to pay for the vet treatment he needs. So we desperately need an association to take him on. She is in southern Spain. Here’s what she says about him.
1/12/2014 – ‘Walking through the square I saw a very, very thin podenco with one front leg held up and dangling, searching under and around the bins. I asked two little boys to watch him, rushed into the shop which luckily is on the square, grabbed a packet of frankfurters for 2€ and rushed out again. After he’d eaten several, he hopped off, but we followed him and one of the little boys (Gitanos – lots here and not crueller to animals than anyone else) managed to go up to him and gently stroke his head and hold him, while I tied my scarf round his neck.
Meet podencos Chas and Dave. 3 months old, they were found abandoned in Cadiz and Bev Farmer has said she will take them. She’s also offered to take podenco Solo, who has been with Pepis Dog Refuge in Seville where no one has shown any interest in this lovely boy. Chris Marshall has said he can collect the 3 podencos from Seville and take them to Bev in Murcia on 5th July. The cost is 75 euros per dog. This poor podenco ended up in this state in the Jerez perrera, Cadiz. Luckily he was rescued by volunteer Gloria Duque and is now in the care of Pod & Co, Belgium and on the way to recovery. He was known as Esperanza but they have called him Vida. Their supporters were so generous with donations to save him that they saved two young galgas as well.
