I recently returned from my latest trip to visit refuges in Spain. Here you can read about it.

Pepis Refuge, Seville – dogs poisoned by local person! Please help
As if the volunteers helping the Spanish animals didn’t have enough to contend with,
rescuing and repairing abandoned dogs and cats, they suffer at the hands of those against what they do. Some people are just pure evil. Pepis Refuge near Seville recently suffered an horrendous attack on their dogs, Alan Brian tells the sickening story.‘It all started a few days ago for us, I say that because our vet told us it takes about 9 days to act, warferin or rat poison as it is better known. We had a beautiful chocolate brown podenco boy who had the most fantastic nature, we called him Chet. When we came to clean him one morning, we saw blood in his pen and he was looking quite sad.

Podenca Tula – waiting at Scooby Valladolid for her forever home
This beautiful podenca is Tula; she’s in the Scooby Residencia Valladolid, which I visited recently on my latest trip to Spain. Tula is a very timid, quiet Podenca Andaluz who came to Scooby from a perrera in Sevilla where they were going to euthanise her.
She is about 2 years old and has the most beautiful, but sad eyes. She is very timid but gains confidence when she sees the same person regularly. Then she comes to you and you can touch and pet her without problem. As shelter is not the place for her, where she sits in a corner, trembling because of all the strangers she sees. She is not afraid of other dogs, they give her a bit more confidence.

Podenco Andaluz – Luna and Billy – both young and needing forever homes
This is Podenca Luna, 7 months old, rescued by Macu. She is now in a foster home preparing for a forever home. She’s a medium size Podenca Andaluz and is young enough to train in obedience and agility, if you would like a dog with energy and loyalty. If you would like to offer Luna a forever home, contact Macu. Or Marisa for English speakers.
And don’t forget adorable Billy – I would so love to have him in my canine family, but 5 dogs is more than enough expense! He’s a small Podenco Andaluz, but these little guys have huge personalities and are a lot of fun to own.
Both in Seville. macu197820102@hotmail.com tele 0034 ttr 809 169

Little Podenco Andaluz Billy in Seville – waiting for his forever family
Do you remember sweet little Podenco Andaluz pup Billy, rescued from a galguero? He’s now 5 months old, healthy and happy in his foster home – he loves water and is ideal for a home with someone who likes sports, as he’s an active little chap. He’s the small type Andaluz, very smart and very funny; no problem living with other dogs and loves people. He really needs a forever family to love him for the rest of his life. If you would like to be considered, contact Carmina in Seville, who speaks excellent English. (There’s a video of him here, if you can open it. Billy.mp4 – I’m no good on these things!!)

Street life in Seville, accommodation needed
We’re used to pix of bitches with pups on the street in Seville, but not such little puppies, all on their own. 3 x podencos, left in a porch by the street; 2 males and a female. Terrified, of course.
They were collected by a volunteer two weeks ago and she is desperately trying to find foster homes for them. They have a bit more confidence but need more individual work. They need somewhere very enclosed as, still being nervous, they run and hid when startled.

SOS Animals – Podencos for adoption – all of them survivors from Spain
Here are some beautiful podencos with SOS Animals UK & Spain, desperately hoping they will catch your eye and your heart, forever. They are all young, ready to be trained, with full EU passports and bloodtested. Monica is an especially unusual girl, as the Podenco Orito is not a well known type of podenco, unlike the popular Podenco Ibizan and Podenco Andaluz. Guadiamar and Bembezar are brother and sister and have very unusual markings. Gemma came from Operation Rehala where 120 galgos and podencos were saved in January/February. All these super hounds have a survival story to tell. You can see more about them on the SOS Animals website.

Podenco Puppy in Seville urgently needs his forever family
Yet another little podenco puppy rescued from the streets of Seville. He urgently needs a foster or adoption home. Here’s his story.
GIORGINO. PUPPY HOUND 2 MONTHS. HE WAS BORN ON THE STREET IN A SEVILLE VILLAGE
This puppy appeared in the streets of my town completely covered with parasites, and malnourished, with a tremendous thirst. We took and gave him a drink immediately, he was exhausted. When he recovered, he ate a little, and shortly thereafter we bathed him with insecticide so that the ticks and fleas were killed. We also feared he had massive infestations, so we wormed him and worms of all kinds were evacuated.
He was suffering from malnutrition, but now he has already been two weeks with me and is recovered, although you can still see his ribs. He is super good and very healthy but I have no where to have more dogs. This case is very urgent. He needs to be in a home, as if he had remained on the street, he would already be dead in the heat of Seville.

Seville – looking for somewhere to stay? So is this little podenco
And another in Seville – a 4 months old podenco puppy left in the street, wandering lost. I won’t print the rest of the message from Macu, because she’s really let rip at the people who do this – leave a little puppy to fend for itself on the street.
Macu is asking for an association to come forward urgently and take the little podenco so that he can be fostered and adopted and spend the rest of his life loved.
