Lovely video of podenco puppies with Podenco Friends Bev Farmer. She reckons it’s an alternative form of energy!
And another of Bev’s fabulous podenco hounds.
A beautiful video of Bev Farmer’s husband Warren returning home from a shopping trip with e little extras.
Amira A heart warming tale about a beautiful podenca. Bev tells her story.
Introducing Amira who came from a Perrera. At first she was reserved by a Spanish association but she escaped the next day and lived wild in the campo for weeks. Someone managed to catch her and they wouldn’t take her back so the perrera contacted me and asked if I would take her.
Introducing handsome podenco Solo, who is with Bev Farmer. He’s desperate for a family and a loving home to call his own for the rest of his life. Can you find a place for him? Bev Farmer describes his character.
‘This is Solo he has been at Pepis Refuge since he first wandered into their gates as a puppy back in 2008.
For some reason no one has shown any interest in him, it’s such a shame that he has not had a family of his own for 5 years.
To help out Solo has come to us and he is a super Podenco very friendly loves to play with the other dogs very quick to learn and wants to please. He is a really affectionate dog and not a loner and at night time he sits on Warre’sn lap while Warren’s drinking a beer or two.
I think he will be brilliant at agility and we will start with some training with him. He has his passport up to date vaccinations, blood tested and negative and is castrated. Thank you to Beryl who sponsored Solo and organised for him to travel to us.
To adopt Solo please email me; podencofriends@hotmail.co.uk‘
Do you remember the appeal for help for Chas and Dave, two podenco puppies rescued in Cadiz and needing foster and forever homes. We arranged for them to go to Bev Farmer in Murcia and here is a fabulous photo of them with her husband Warren. That’s the two boys, the tinies each side of the other podencos. Contact Bev if you can offer one of them a forever home.
Danielle White is fostering Amber, a Podenca Andaluz, and her puppies. She gave birth to 7 healthy babies, 4 boys and 3 girls who are now 6 weeks old. Some have been found forever homes but she still needs homes for 3 boys. She says Amber has a wonderful nature.
If anyone can offer a forever home to one of these little beauties or would like more information, please contact Danielle direct.
I can’t emphasise enough what fabulous hounds podencos are; marvellous companion dogs and, if you get a young one, easy to train and marvellous agility dogs (they are very popular in agility competitions in Germany especially). Bev Farmer fosters podencos and works hard on training them for forever homes. Here’s a great video which illustrates just how well podencos respond to training.
Bev was one of the many volunteers who went to Bullas on Operation Rehala at the beginning of 2012 and here is what she says.
This poor little soul was found in a rubbish bin. A man heard a groan, looked and there was this little podenco puppy – more dead than alive. Luckily he rushed it to a vet who immediately put it on CPR and a drip, surrounded it with plastic bottles filled with warm water…last report is that it is still alive.
Poor podenco – an outcast in Spain! He’s in the care of Spaanse Honden Nood Belgium
Here is Isabella, living at home with Bev Farmer and Warren. Bev says, ‘she wasn’t coping staying in the kennels. She is much brighter and content and we call her Iizzy Wizzy now she is so full of life and fun!
Isabella is one of our older girls at 6/7 years old. She has a large tattoo in her ear, an older form of identification than a microchip, showing that she belonged to a hunter with whom she spent her early years, and was then a long time in a shelter.
Urgently seeks home for these podenco puppies, which are in the Rambla Clada (Alhama de Murcia). A volunteer has been feeding them for the past month, but she can’t take them home, there are too many! They desperately need fosters and adoptions. They are small podencos. They are males and one female; the whitey and who has more white spots are males, the more dark spots is female. Thank you
