Bella has been tested for Leishmania, Heart worm etc and all negative; She has all her vaccinations, microchip and passport and can travel (to the UK if desired) from the 14th Jan.

Here’s another very young podenca, now named Conchi-Pepa/Tecla, abandoned, pregnant by a bigger dog. After the puppies, she has been sterlised. She has recovered well from the operation and is in a foster home. But Macu needs help to pay the vet fees, and she desperately needs to find this little podenca her forever home. You may remember little podenca Lucy, recently rescued from beside a railway track. She was going through the process of having her EU passport prepared when she was the victim of a terrible attack by bigger dogs which nearly killed her. The second such incident I have reported recently.
She has umpteen wounds and stitches all over her body; she has a puncture wound almost on the jugular – a little bit closer and Lucy would not be with us. A miracle that she is.
This is a little Podenca Andaluz, the smallest of the type and the same as my little Bebe. Little dogs with huge personalities. This little lady was rescued from a train track in Malaga and taken to 112carlotagalgos. Here’s her story.
‘Meet Little Lucy. Rescued from a train track last Wednesday. A tiny tiny figure of a podenca. She has erect ears and is the sweetest little dollop of sugar! She is minute, and full of love. Easy to scoop up in your arms and she loves being held like a baby.
Introducing Ruso, a little podenco, rescued 6 months ago starving, sick and fearful. He is now in good health, as you can see, but stays in the refuge in Seville, everyone passes him by. Is there a home for him?

A couple of weeks ago we took our latest foster galgo to the UK to his forever home. After 15 months with foster dogs, we are back to our own 4 permanent residents. So we decided to take them to the beach at the weekend. Les Conches is on the west coast of France, just above the port of La Rochelle. There is little habitation and miles and miles of sandy beach. It was a glorious day, wall-to-wall blue skies and the dogs loved it. The galgas ran free for the first time, although we didn’t risk letting little Podenca Andaluz Bebe off the long lead. But she paddled and jumped waves and enjoyed herself just as much as the others.
As Bebe is such a little bundle of energy (she is a miniature Podenca Andaluz), it’s not very often that she is completely tired out – but a day at the beach proved more than enough – as you can see from the photo of her fast asleep on the sofa next to me!
It’s always great to post a story with a happy ending. And here’s another survivor from the streets of Spain, who has now found her forever home, and a sofa of her own! This little chap is a young Podenco Maneto, abandoned in a town near Seville. He’s going around the bars begging for food, subject to abuse from people, kicking him, chasing him, wandering in the hope that someone will save him from ‘the brats of the village’. ‘Please can someone help me, I need as he needs somewhere safe, but everywhere is full.’ Nati.
