  • SOS Animals – Podencos for adoption – all of them survivors from Spain

    Guadiamar_5 190Here are some beautiful podencos with SOS Animals UK & Spain, desperately hoping they will catch your eye and your heart, forever. They are all young, ready to be trained, with full EU passports and bloodtested. Monica is an especially unusual girl, as the Podenco Orito is not a well known type of podenco, unlike the popular Podenco Ibizan and Podenco Andaluz. Guadiamar and Bembezar are brother and sister and have very unusual markings. Gemma came from Operation Rehala where 120 galgos and podencos were saved in January/February. All these super hounds have a survival story to tell. You can see more about them on the SOS Animals website.

  • X Podenco Snoopy – beating the odds in Spain

    Snoopy Ivor Scott 250 5 2012This delightul cutie pie is Snoopy, a x podenco puppy, now living happily with the Scott family, between the UK and Spain. Ivor Scott tells the story.

    ‘Well,, my wife & I had a Border Collie called Jess,she was a special girl, very clever,, each year we came to Spain for 6 months, sadly last year Jess died from cancer aged 13 years,, we were devastated.

    When we returned to Spain in November 2011, life was so empty, there was a huge void. We had decided not to get another dog, so we made contact with Pat Coleman, the founder of F-A-M-A animal rescue in Fuengirola, Andalucia. We offered our time to go dog walking.

  • Seville podencos desperately needing help – fosters and donations

Desperation is the tone of her emails, and who can blame her when you see these poor souls, puppies terrified of what is happening to them, all needing feeding, veterinary checks, kennel fees paying.   • Podenco Iggy in Granada – urgently needs a foster/adopting home before end January

    Iggy 2 190 1 2012I’ve received this urgent plea today. ‘My partner and I need URGENT HELP since we’ve been fostering two dogs, 1 of them a 12 months Andalusian Podenco, whilst trying to find a permanent home for them.

    Our urgent situation is we have to leave Spain for personal reasons and we are moving at the beginning of February from a house we rent and cannot take the dogs with us to the UK or continue to foster them much longer, because we will be staying as guests in houses and our near future is quite uncertain.

This femalePodenco has only 6 month old.The person who has this bitch has told us that he goes on vacation for Christmas and if we don’t do anything for the bitch he will take it to the pound.   • Help this little Podenca Andaluz in Seville

    Macu podenca 1 250 12 2011Podenco Andaluz come in 3 sizes, small, medium and large! I have a small, Bebe, she is pocket sized but has THE biggest personality and keeps 5 galgos in order!

    Here’s another very young podenca, now named Conchi-Pepa/Tecla, abandoned, pregnant by a bigger dog. After the puppies, she has been sterlised. She has recovered well from the operation and is in a foster home. But Macu needs help to pay the vet fees, and she desperately needs to find this little podenca her forever home. If you can offer a forever home, please contact Macu. She does an amazing job, keeps these innocent souls at home, or in foster, until someone comes along and can take them.   • Little Podenca Andaluz Lucy, lucky to survive an horrendous attack

    Lucy accident 250 4 12 2011You may remember little podenca Lucy, recently rescued from beside a railway track. She was going through the process of having her EU passport prepared when she was the victim of a terrible attack by bigger dogs which nearly killed her. The second such incident I have reported recently.

    She has umpteen wounds and stitches all over her body; she has a puncture wound almost on the jugular – a little bit closer and Lucy would not be with us. A miracle that she is.

  • Podenca Andaluz Lucy – rescued in Malaga – looking for her forever family

    Lucy 1 Charl 11 2011 250This is a little Podenca Andaluz, the smallest of the type and the same as my little Bebe. Little dogs with huge personalities. This little lady was rescued from a train track in Malaga and taken to 112carlotagalgos. Here’s her story.

    ‘Meet Little Lucy. Rescued from a train track last Wednesday. A tiny tiny figure of a podenca. She has erect ears and is the sweetest little dollop of sugar! She is minute, and full of love. Easy to scoop up in your arms and she loves being held like a baby.
