Podenca Ana, from Valencia to Malaga – saved from the hunters
You may remember an appeal for someone to make room in a refuge of home for an injured podenca who had been living rough since October. I’m happy to report that she has now been saved. The podenca has been named Ana, after the village where she had been living. She has been taken in by 112carlotagalgos, travelling by their pet transport company from Ana, Valencia, down to Malaga. Here’s her story.

Happy Endings Final Feliz – Fabi waits with them for a forever home
This is an appeal from Happy Endings Final Feliz in Chiclana near Cadiz. Last winter friends of mine spent a couple of months there helping the association with abandoned dogs and looking after them. They came back with two puppies which had been born to an abandoned podenca; now named Oliver and Nancy, the puppies are benefiting from being in a home environment, although Nancy continues to be nervous of strangers.
Fabi is another such young dog, whose mother was a Podenca. Karen takes up his story.

Seville – the horror behind the glitter that tourists see
There are dozens of unsung heroes in Spain, helping the abandoned dogs and cats, funding much of their care themselves whilst working to earn a living. Macu is one such lady, in Seville. Some of the appeals I have posted on Galgo News and Podenco Post have been from her. Here she explains what she tries to do, and the problems she faces, like so many volunteers breed dogs.
‘Good afternoon everybody, I´ll try to summarize.
In this settlement by Seville there are more or less 20 shacks with 30 dogs each one (with their owners). I´ve spent 3 years of my life there, saving galgos, podencos and mixed dogs none wanted by their owners. -

Podenco Canario Lelo – in Lincolnshire waiting for his forever home
However hard the rehoming associations work to fit the right dog with the right home, sometimes situations change and that happened for this stunning Podenco Canario from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Here’s what Rick says.
‘This stunning boy has been returned to us after only 5 months in his ‘forever’ home – and not because of anything HE did wrong! The reason given by the family is ‘we couldn’t spend enough time with him as we have started extra duties at church.’

Anna, Xativa, Valencia – abandoned podenca needs somewhere to go
This is an urgent appeal for someone to take in this beautiful young podenca. She is in Anna, near Xativa in the Province of Valencia. This is the story from the lady who wants to save her.
‘I have been feeding her since October. I live in Anna which is about 20 minutes from Xativa. I have contacted PEPA and she is on their website but they have nowhere for her to go. I have also contacted SOS Galgos. No one seems able to help.
She has a problem with her leg and she will need an operation which I would be happy to pay for. I do not want to remove her until I have somewhere for her to go.

Urgent appeal, white podenca needs room somewhere – please help
URGENT APPEAL This beautiful starving young white podenca was found on the streets in Castellon by some boys and has been shut in a storage room.
‘The boys says that if they canb’t find anyone to take it, they will put it back on the street, as they have a problem with the neighbours! We can’t take in any more dogs, we have 15 in kennels including two which are very sick. Please can someone take her urgently.’

People who don’t make arrangements to have their pets looked after when they go on holiday really make me angry. I’ve just received this appeal in from Spain. This podenca is in Murcia, can anyone help take her?
