  • Plataforma NAC fighting for the hunting dogs of Spain and Spanish Islands

    Plataforma NAC400 8 2024
    PerrosDeCasaNoDeCaza

A hunting dog’s life is far from ideal. Despite the heroic image some associate with them, these animals often face a reality full of deprivation, danger and suffering. At the end of their “useful life,” many hunting dogs are abandoned, sacrificed, or sold to other hunters, perpetuating a cycle of suffering.

Sadly and with great powerlessness we see it daily.

It is time to recognize that these animals are sentient beings who deserve dignity and respect. We need to keep fighting to demand laws that protect them and raise awareness in society about the cruelty of hunting.

  • Tragic life of a young Spanish Podenco

    Bonbon 1 400
The tragic life of Podenco Bonbon.

This is Bonbon, a podenco who was left to die on the roadside in the searing heat here in Spain .. so desperate for food that her stomach was full of stones. Thankfully, someone stopped to help, and our friends Galgos Felices Fundacion took her under their care.

Bonbon was put into intensive care at a veterinary hospital. She was severely anaemic, dehydrated, possibly broken ribs and tested positive for leishmania.

At just one year old, Bonbon had already endured so much suffering. Sadly she did not make it – but thanks to the kindness of a passing driver who picked her up and took her to the vet, she did not die in agony on the roadside.

    RIP little Bonbon.

  • Adopt a podenco from Lanzarote, Canary Island

    Black podenco 1 400
Still our sweet VERO hasn’t received any requests.. maybe it’s because she’s already 9 years old, or because they say black dogs are less successful.

One thing is sure, it’s not by her character, because she’s very sociable and loving.

After 9 years exploited for reproduction and saved from hell by the authorities, now waiting for a happy ending where she would know the warmth of a home.

  • Volunteering for the dogs in the San Bartolome shelter in Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Being a volunteer is not just going up to the kennel for a walk, being a volunteer is a mission and a path that hooks you, although unintentionally, on these very special beings. Because when you become a volunteer your life changes, part of your free time is dedicated to them, your thoughts and your desires to see them outside of a cage become constant and above all you become attached, because they are part of your life now, they are your family. Yes, you go up every day, you can to give them a little love so that they feel special because they are and your voice will be theirs to give them strength and hope that one day they will feel the true essence of freedom and a loving home.

We walk the dogs every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9-1300.

  • A sad twilight for this old boy in Ourense

    Riqui 1 Ourense 400 8 2024
Another story of which TEAR your heart and even the soul, this is the grandfather RIQUI, he is 10 years old and looks like he is 15, he is almost blind and deaf. “He lives” in a yard where there are three hundred dogs at his age, how is it possible!! He is very good with everyone, he does NOT have much left, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEE a family.

Riqui came to protection in 2019. He had been tied up his whole life, and one day they decided to let him go and he ran away. He crossed the street, and got hit by a car. They picked it up and with fractures in the back legs, of which it has consequences – it limps and has little strength. He has never been caressed, he had never been loose. He’s about 10 years old now, but looks so much older. He spent the last few months in the prote hospital, but now he’s back in a yard, where he’s stressed, and he’s almost deaf and almost blind, so he’s not handled well at all… He’s a very sweet but special hound.

    Will you be his family?

  • Podencos in Ourense perrera hoping for a shelter, foster or adoption

    Perrera pod 1400 8 2024
    From La Cruz in Spain

‘I visited the prison like shelter recently, all dogs kept alone, fed once a day and only walked when they have enough volunteers (who are bloody amazing actually).

I can foster any of these guys if I can find an association to take them later on.

Just look at the faces of these gentle souls, some so scared they pee when you enter the kennel.

La Cruz is a small home rescue based in the mountains behind Villajoyosa, Costa Blanca. Dogs are the main focus, however we work with the local cat rescue & can help rehome farm animals if needed.

  • Podenca Luchy rescued from a Spanish ravine – hoping for a forever home

    Bev Luchy 400 7 2024
    Meet Luchy!

Please could you help and give her a share and let us find her that forever sofa for her.

Six months ago, Luchy’s life changed forever. Abandoned in a remote ravine with no escape, Luchy barked for help, never giving up hope. By a stroke of luck, a hiking couple heard her cries. Despite the challenging terrain and their own injuries, they were able to rescue Luchy and brought her to safety.

Then Galgos Felices Fundacion stepped in when others couldn’t, and now Luchy is waiting for a loving family to call her own. Sadly after 6 months in the rescue there has been no interest in her.
