  • Podenca Fortuna – let’s make her fortunate – find her forever home.

Fortuna Marcella 250 5 2015This is Fortuna, only a year old, taken from a hunter as she was in danger. She is already spayed and is about 40 cm. She is great with other animals, children and people. She is a lovely little Spanish Podenco.

There are hundreds and hundreds of gorgeous podencos like Fortuna, in foster and refuges. Adopt one of these, and you make room for a podenco in a perrera. ADOPT a refuge/foster dog.

Let’s find Fortuna a family of her own, she is gorgeous.

  • Podenca Dina – born in kennels, looking for her forever home

The Kennel Klub Dina 250 5 2015DINA, there must be a home out there for her somewhere! This lovely lady is 8 months old, was born in to rescue and has spent most of her short life living in a kennel. She desperately wants a family of her own to show her what life is all about. She is a little jumpy and energetic but soon calms down. She is attending basic training classes and is doing really well.

She has a fantastic nature, very friendly and affectionate and she gets on great with other dogs and children.

She is in Lanzarote but we can organise and cover costs of transport if the right home is found. Please, let’s find her a forever home – NO DOG DESERVES TO GROW UP IN KENNELS.

  • Puppy Fairs in France – they should be banned!

Please sign and share this petition. These puppy fairs in France should be banned, they encourage breeding of puppies for money and impulse buying, when there are already too many abandoned and unwanted dogs in France.

  • Podenco Portuguese puppies – waiting for forever homes

Wanda and puppies 190 4 2015Here is a story about an abandoned podenca – an all too common story in Spain.

I am a Canadian living in Valencia, Spain for the past 2 years. I have been overwhelmed by the stray dog crisis in this country. I have tried to help in different way and ended up adopting 4 large dogs that now are happy living with me

Last week, we found a Podengo Portuguese 2 blocks from my place in an empty area. She had given birth to 6 puppies and was always barking when anybody got close. We started visiting daily and taking food to her and the pups. We finally decided to go in and catch her, who was very protective of her puppies and with the help of professional rescuers we got them all.

  • Podenco Rescue & Rehoming Associations

Remember, adopt a podenco from a recognised rescue and rehoming association. Here’s a comprehensive list by country. DON’T take a podenco straight from a perrera, where it’s character hasn’t been assessed, nor your home approved.

  • Malaga Dog Show

Malaga dog show 250 4 2015A not uncommon site in Spain – still living in the dark ages where animals are concerned. This particular ‘event’ is in Malaga – a dog show and sale of hunting dogs. If you feel strongly about it, please sign the petition.

Thank you to Catherine for the translation. This is what the petition is about; Once again we have a case of animal abuse. No, it’s not the slaughter of dogs in China, it’s in SPAIN, specifically a town in the province of Malaga, which has decided to have a ‘dog show’ this year where all the hunters can take their dogs for everyone to see.

This is the same town that boasts of putting up posters advising that dangerous dogs be muzzled and considers itself to be the most romantic town in Malaga province the most empathetic to animals which is the most disgusting claim. Hundreds of dogs in locked in cages or tied with chains that stop them even lying down (Is this not illegal?).
