  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – how it all started

    GRA origin 250
The origin of Galgos Rescue Almería

What started as an idea to open a dog boarding kennel on a piece of land in Cuevas del Almanzora, grew into a safe haven for the most vulnerable souls.

The idea of a dog boarding kennel soon took a completely different turn, one that would change the lives of many dogs.

On August 13, 2017, an urgent request came in: whether we could help with a heavily pregnant galgo. Of course, we said yes.

  • Urgent donations needed for a badly injured podenco puppy

    Felipe leg 200
Among so many sadness and adversity we have not updated Felipe’s condition, so we have named the podenquito that we rescued last week when we were coming back from the kennel.

Well, after being admitted to the hospital of Puente Genil, Cordoba, and advising us that his paw should be amputated, we decided to ask for advice from our colleagues from Galgos 112, because they unfortunately have very complicated cases and we know that they are also the best veterinarians.

Esther, who is wonderful, helped us get some of the money for Felipe’s expenses.. And we have moved Felipe to one of the clinics at Galgos 112 for a second evaluation.

We are very grateful to the Hospital of Puente Genil as they have taken care of Felipe wonderfully, and we also thank the Aimar Clinic for having welcomed him so lovingly as you can see video“>in the video.

Felipe is still stable. He eats very well. The wound looks very good but it still has no deep sensitivity or flexor reflex.
He is being treated with fluid therapy, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics.

Thanks to, among others, Galgos 112 Ofcial, how wonderful they are.

  • UK Vet Fees – petition to sign and share

This petition is demanding the setting up of an independent regulatory authority to curb the diabolical vet fees in the UK. You need a UK postcode to sign and share.

    Petition weblink

Last year the Competition and Markets Authority undertook a look at vet clinics not being upfront about charges etc. This weblink give extensive details of their report, last March. Not that it will do anything to stop vets selling out to speculative companies which demand their share of vet charges.

  • Podenco Campanero Oddie – a very special tripod hoping for a forever home

    Oddie 1 350
Tripod dogs are amazing, Having 3 legs doesn’t have to be a handicap.

Introducing tripod Podenco Campanero ODDIE who was rescued almost 2 years ago by Happy Footprints Association with a shot in his elbow that left him totally devastated.. tried with medication to cure him, but there was no way, and there was a high risk of endangering his health, so there was no choice but to amputate his leg.

He says ‘I don’t mind having 3 legs at all, because I live a totally normal life, but it seems… because of this no one wants to adopt me. I am a beautiful podenquito campanero, 7 years old, medium size, I am not very big, I am totally healthy and although at first I am a little scared of the unknown, as soon as I take confidence I am a charmer!! I just want to get the chance to know what it feels like to have a family to care for me and love me forever.’

Reach out at asociacionhuellasfelices@gmail.com and they’ll tell you all you need to know about me. I’m in Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Cordoba) but I can travel to your home if you want to give me the family I need.

  • Podenca Candy hoping for a forever home

    Candy 1 4 2025 350
Introducing Candy, a stunning freckled Podenca with Maz’s Canine Rescue.

Hi there… I’m Candy. I’m a two-year-old Spanish Podenco with a heart full of hope and the softest little paws you ever did see. I live at MAZ’s Canine Rescue in Tijola, where I was rescued and given a second chance. Life here is safe and kind — I have doggy friends to play with, good food, and gentle people who care for me. But still… every night, I curl up and dream of a forever home.

I’m a bit shy when we first meet — I like to take my time and figure out the world at my own pace. But once I feel safe, I’ll show you my playful side. I’m really good with other dogs (I love a good game of chase!), and I’m learning all about this walking-on-a-lead thing. It’s still a bit new to me, but I’m trying so hard and getting braver every day.

  • Blind Podenca Victoria seeks a special home

    Blind podenca 4 2025 350
Victoria is blind. And she is in an asylum. A place full of noises she can’t place, smells that confuse her, stress from other dogs that she can’t avoid. For a dog that can’t see, life out there is downright scary.

She has no panic, no trauma, no aggression — she is just gentle, sweet and affectionate. But she lacks what every animal needs: peace, safety, stability.

Victoria is not a dog that you “just save”. She is not an impulse adoption. But if you have a warm heart, and feel that you can only give that little extra… then you get an incredibly sweet dog for that.

Email me if you are interested and I will pass your name on to the contact.
