  • Spainish floods – podencos trapped in cages drown – hunter rescued!

    RIP sweet angel 400a
    From Bev Farmer.

Podencos -The Great forgotten locked in kennels they had no chance to escape ..

I have not included photos of dead podencos but can be viewed on the report on the link below

This is a report from www.animanaturalis.org

Trapped and abandoned hunting dogs are some of the anonymous victims of the DANA. The effects of the DANA that recently hit Valencia have left a trail of devastation and lost lives, not only human but also animal. In Torrent, a group of volunteers from AnimaNaturalis and local organizations have found destroyed kennels and dogs with no way of escaping, exposing a painful reality: environmental tragedies deeply affect the most vulnerable and abandoned animals.

Our Mandy, our Diane from Ibizan Hound Rescue, Tina from GdS, all in the middle. • Valencia Floods – SOS Podencos update

    SOS Podencos 400
From SOS Podencos – at one point the water was waste deep.

Most of our dogs are out of the kennel and placed into temporary foster homes. The two remaining are inside the house that is in the kennel, and they will leave today.
There are still other dogs in the kennel that aren’t ours, but it seems the legal owners don’t want them to go into foster homes..

Now is the time to clean, fix and rebuild!
If you can come help, it will be appreciated.
Here is a video of the state of the kennel. It’s full of mud and water. The fences are broken, ripped from the ground. All the dog food is gone. The dog beds are gone or broken.

    @protectorabiosbardos

Today we ask you something very important for someone very special. Some people who follow us years ago know who Cas is, for the new we explain, Cas appeared run over in the year 2015, the fractures were very severe and after many surgeries finally had to amputate both legs on the same side, we always bet on him despite that the recommendation was euthanasia, in these nine years he proved us that we did the right thing by living a full and happy life, without any kind of restriction.

Now Cas is starting to get older and needs a chair adapted to his needs, which is very difficult as it is not a normal case, we need someone who controls and knows how to make him adapted to him. Recently we saw a post from @mbenzespana that his engineers had made one, We make this post to get a chair that allows Cas to walk and make his life a little easier. We ask you to share the post to have more chances that this year Cas gets his much deserved Christmas

I hope you can see this facebook video of dozens of podencos rescued from a compound where they ran loose to breed. Many of the dogs had to be trapped in cages as they hadn’t been handled, and many of the bitches are pregnant.

  • Valencia hard hit with flooding too

    From Bev Farmer

Today, the sunshine finally returns. I feel incredibly fortunate to be on the periphery of the devastating storms that hit Valencia. Our hearts go out to our friends in the heart of the storm, where shelters have been overwhelmed by the floods. I remember all too well the stress and heartbreak of dealing with similar floods back in 2019—the fear and the urgency, as the water rises so quickly, giving so little time to find safety.

We’re anxiously awaiting news about the many Podencos at SOS Podenco Rescue who were in a flooded residence. The worry is heavy, and we are hoping for a miracle.

Please, let it be good news for these innocent lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.
