If you recognise any of these symptoms in your dog, please take it to the vet to be tested for leishmania. I always recommend that, even if your Spanish hound has tested negative for the disease, you should have it retested every year.

GPAR animal rescue in Rute, Granada…Podenco Pluto needs help
LOOKING URGENTLY FOR A NEW HOME FOR PLUTO – HERE IN SPAIN OR EUROPE OR IN THE UK – PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH EVERYONE
THANK-YOU
CONTACT gpar.refuge@gmail.com if anyone can helpNEWS STORY FROM GPAR – Pluto the Podenco!
Pluto has had a very bad time. He was a street dog in Rute for over a year and no one was able to get near enough to him to catch him. It was unfortunately an accident he had with a car, that enabled GPAR to rescue him, take him to the vet for treatment and then to the refuge where he has been since Feb this year.
The accident caused injury to his right paw which is now sightly deformed but he can walk on it although he will need to have another operation and he is waiting to have this.

Portuguese Podengo Thomas – with Many Tears Rescue, Wales
Here’s the story of Tom, a Portuguese Podengo x rescued and now with Many Tears Rescue in Wales. He’s looking for his forever family, along with another 9 Podencos – all in the UK in foster. June writes.
‘Learning to be loved:
With all your help we have been able to save a number of dogs that were all going to die on the streets of Portugal.
These dogs have been doing really well, some are now in permanent homes, whilst others are still awaiting their special day!
om made his way to my family. Tom is a happy go lucky kind of a guy, but even with his chirpy character and live life to the full attitude you can still see that his soul
bears scars of his former life! He truly believed that hands were a source of pain and something to be feared, he has been with me just under three weeks now and is just starting to understand that hands can make food and toys appear. If you moved too
swiftly he would whimper believing a smack was coming his way! -
A Tether Tug – keeping your dog occupied
I’ve been sent a link to the Tether Tug ‘toy’, with a suggestion that it could be something shelters and refuges could use to exercise/occupy their dogs…if there is a space for play/socialising. Perhaps even a handy person could make one.

Update on the container dogs…endf June 2015
Those of us who are in, or who grew up in the UK will find this unbelievable But please keep supporting ACTIN in their work. It is simply not possible to just break into the container and take the dogs…if it was, it would have been done!
