  • Podenco/Galgo mix – waiting too long for her forever home

    Rocio galpod 1 400 1 12 2020
    From Rocio Castillo Gonzalez

    ‘Glory, a mix galga-podenca, Small-medium size (12 kg)

One year she has been at the Podencos Y Mas -Malaga- shelter, this princess is waiting for you to look at such a beauty. She’s our top model… but still no one has given her a chance yet.

She’s 2 years old and was rescued at just 1 years old from a Noe syndrome in Huelva. Came in a lot of fear and full of bugs outside and inside.

Now she’s a cute doll, healthy and full of love and happiness to give whoever is lucky enough to give her a good home.
Can you help us so Gloria can write her happy ending?

It’s time for you, isn’t it, Glory?

  • URGENT – forever home needed due to the shelter closing!

    Frisky 2 400
    From Charlotte Nash‎

SPECIAL HOME NEEDED FRISKY is a striking 4 year old Podenco. He arrived at the charity in a shocking state – skeletal, unwell and petrified. After a lot of love and care he has recovered, but is understandably nervous around new people and living with Leishmaniasis. This is why he needs a special, experienced adopter. He is currently in Spain but can travel to the UK or rest of Europe for the right owner. Please Share!

Sadly Valle Verde Animal Rescue Group is closing at the end of the year, making finding the right person or people for him very urgent! He is a very handsome dog with a lot to say for himself, but starts off quite shy until he knows you. Once he does, he loves nothing more than his head stroked, tummy rubbed and lots of treats. He has no problems with other dogs or coming into contact with children – although we do not advise a household with young children due to his nervous nature.

  • 3 Podenco puppies with Podenco Friends – handed over by the hunter

    Bev Constance 400 11 2020
    From Bev at Podenco Friends.

‘The three pups handed over by the hunter Constance, Arthos and Porthos. When they arrived on Thursday they were very withdrawn and the first time I let them out in the paddock given their reaction they had never been outside before . Today they are so much brighter and acting like puppies and eating well.

The two boys I see a problem with their right front leg at the ankle and the position of the leg is little bowed. Its not bothering them it just could be the growth plates so I will refer to my vets..

I doubt these pups got the best food I think they were still feeding off the mum and they are 8 to 10 weeks old .. Lack of exercise stuck in kennel wont have helped. Hopefully it is something with good nutrition and time it will resolve itself.’

    GRA Turbo 10 2020
From Sandy at Galgo’s Rescue Almemria.

    .Rescuing animals…

It stays a thin line between joy and pain.

This week GRA welcomed this beautiful Podenco Ibicenco. This beautiful big boy is only 9 months young, he’s is used to living with a small dog and a cat. Unfortunately due to a change of circumstances he could not stay with his family and GRA was asked to find him a new home.

If you’re considering giving him a new home, you should know he’s a young dog, so he still needs a strict education.’ Contact Sandy direct.

  • Podenca Kira – hoping for a forever home in her twilight years

    Kira 1 400
    From Protectora Malaga

‘There are many people who when they see their dogs get old, get upset and suffer in anticipation of the ending that unfortunately will come. They would like them to be eternal, never to leave and always live with them. They take care of them, they spoil them, they do what is necessary to save their dog, to help him spend a few more years. I’ve met a lot of people like this in the Protectora.

But unfortunately there are others with different behavior, because when your dog, or any other animal, ages and is sick, they abandon it because it no longer serves its use: entertain the children, show off how beautiful it is, hunt. That’s happened to poor Kira, aged 14, she has stopped serving someone, someone who never loved her, and they have abandoned her in Zoosanitarian.

She’s with us now. We’d like to know something about her story, to tell us what she was used for, but we’ll never know, although seeing her race, and her state, it’s not hard for us to imagine.
