Calpe, Alicante – Xmas accommodation?
I’ve copied this story from the Anonymous Animal Defenders Spain facebook page – the story was first reported on 16th December, below you can read the updates. (google translation)
These dogs have been located on a property (apparently abandoned) in the Alicante town of Calpe, their situation has been reported to Seprona, hopefully something is done and act fast.
DESCRIPTION:
There were several kennels, 1 which looks upon arrival to the property is the PITBULL, desperate because he did touch, you can see that the space you have is very small, like a kennel, surely it is used for breeding.

Stunning Podenco Ibicenco with Podenco Friends – for adoption
And another new addition at Podenco Friends – a gentle giant.
‘We had another arrival. Sonny travelled from Cadiz, a big beautiful Ibizan Hound just over a year old. He was found abandoned a few months ag,o sadly the foster family could no longer keep him so Karen Dunn of Tika stepped in and prepared him for adoption.
Sonny has an eye condition known as uveitis resulting from a trauma to the eye and started treatment for it some time ago. At the moment he still having treatment and it is possible the eyesight in that eye will be compromised. We will continue with weekly veterinary checks and our vets are in consultation with the clinic that treated him before.
Taking that all aside Sonny only been with us for 24 hours and has the most wonderful temperament, very easy going and a big hit with the girlies here. For adoption please email us at podencofriends@hotmail.co.uk

Lora del Rio, Seville – anyone room for a little podenca?
Little podenca abandoned on the streets of Lora del Rio, Seville. The volunteer says ‘its history? We can imagine it, it is not good to hunting and not worthwhile to continue keeping it so that on the street is a problem less for the Hunter, he didn’t even remove her collar… is a shame that in this rain and this cold she does not have a beautiful family who wants her, but all we do endeavour to find her shelter until her final home. We’ve called her Yaki. GRACIAS

Urgent appeal for podencos in Tenerife
Regular readers will know I always mention the refuges in the Canary Islands and the podencos there whose main hope of a forever home is on mainland Europe. Now there is terrible news from of the shelters.
There has been torrential rain in Tenerife and the refuge Tierra Blanca has suffered badly with flooding. If anyone would like to help a podenco to have a shelter from the elements, below is more information and an translation from María Isabel Padilla Peraza vet and manager of Tierra blanca.
We currently have over 130 Podencos in our patio area , an open area that has been devastated by rain. Right now we are constructing the area , but besides building costs we need funds to buy shelters.

Valencia podencos – together forever
When I visited Bev, I met two of the 50+ podencos rescued from a hellhole in Valencia. Their necks bore the marks made by the chains and collars. After rehabilitation with Bev and Warren, they have now both found their forever family. a wonderful happy story!
Bev writes. As we prepare Nacha for her big trip to America to Sallie Lisa and her team at Grateful Greyhounds Inc. there is another twist to this story. One I had secretly hoped for and this week it has become a reality. We got confirmation that Nacha will be reunited with Esme and these two Podencos will never be separated again. Martha Feltenstein, who has already adopted Esme, was at the airport on the 5th December to welcome Nacha and take her home. This fantastic ending to such a sad story has only come about from the co-operation and team work of so many people.

Nearly deaf, partially sighted – big cuddly puppy Pipa waiting at Scooby
Not a podenco or a galgo but nevertheless a very special young dog with Scooby Medina who needs a very special home. Here’s her story.
PIPA is a very special girl. She is a puppy(born in january 2013) living with the oldies.Pipa is deaf(if not completely, almost deaf),we think she doesn´t see perfectly and, once in a while, she has an epileptic attack.
But there are many other things that make her special and loved…
