The situation with the podengos in S. Miguel, Azores, is disastrous. One of the biggest problems is that it is mostly unknown that these dogs actually exist. And yet, the Azorean Podengos, with their distinctive identifying physical characteristics likely represent one of the original founder stocks of the breed. They should absolutely be protected.
