‘New friends for Blanca…

Losing Pinto was such a shock and devastating for Blanca and myself and I wondered how she would cope losing him, they had been together for 9 years .. A life time of neglect and abuse for both of them, they found comfort in the company of one another.
Blanca has surprised me, she has very much come out of her shell. I think she lived in Pintos shadow and felt secure doing so, for she was a very nervous dog when she first arrived at the finca.

Like people, dogs also find strength to carry on, especially the Podencos that suffer so much and Blanca found that inner strength and very much embracing life .. Now she runs up to me tail wagging insisting I give her treats, picking up toys and throwing them around, she has found friendship with Timo and Astro.

From that shy girl that always was a couple of feet behind Pinto I now see a very different dog much more confident .. Maybe all those years of her watching Pinto registered with her. Although she was happy for him to take the lead she knew she was safe here and took a leap of faith to be a little more braver here at the finca.
