They denounce the terrible conditions of these dogs in the ravine of El Sobradillo: “They are tied with chains of half a meter”.
The president of the Animal Rescue Brigade Orion demands the mayor of the capital of Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, to take action on the matter
Tied with strings of just one meter and in quite questionable conditions. This is how a neighbor has located these dogs in the middle of the ravine of El Sobradillo, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, due to the constant barking and howling. Faced with such insensitivity on the part of those responsible for allowing animals to survive in this way, the complainant has decided to record the situation to spread a reality that, unfortunately, happens every day in the Canary Islands.
The video was published on 27th January 2019 on Instagram by the president of the Animal Rescue Brigade Orion, Cristo Gil, who explained to this newspaper that “it is unfortunate that these dogs are stuck in booths tied with chains of half a meter where, practically, they can not move. ” The Tenerife, who usually claim through their profiles in social networks a decent treatment to animals, has explained that it is not an isolated case, since “I receive recordings like this day after day”.
When asked about the possible solutions, Gil affirms that “we do not know how to act because we have already moved to the shelters dogs that were in similar conditions and the next day the owner returns to look for them to leave them in the initial place”.
In this sense, the president of the Animal Rescue Brigade Orión demands the mayor of the capital of Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, to take action on the matter. “We publish this type of videos so that the null management carried out by the town councils of the Islands regarding this problem is known,” he adds. He also states that “we also want to show the usefulness that hunters give their tools (alluding to dogs), which are tied 24 hours, they feed them a couple of times a week and during hunting they take the odd day to run after the rabbits. “
So far, Gil has not received any calls from shelters or shelters that are interested in remedying the reality of these animals. “It is incredible that in 2019 the Canaries ravines are allowed to be full of dogs that are in these conditions,” he laments.
