On the frontline – animal rescue in Murcia

Another rescue story – 2 podencos, one pregnant, and galgos from a local kennel. Tina of Galgos del Sol tells the story.

’10th February 2017. We got a call to say that a galguero locally had been closed down and fined by Seprona and could we help take the dogs. This was an emotional case for us because it’s on our doorstep and we had been waiting for some time for this news. We had approached before to help to no avail and we had reached out to the authorities but nothing happened. There are a lot of ghosts around this place. I don’t want to write about them but I’ve seen them and I’ve cried and I’ve waited this moment.

It’s not over yet tho, with one dog very ill the stress of the move threw him into extreme panic… Usually I stay calm but emotions & memories from the past here just took over and now I’m utterly drained instead of happy, the pressure got too much as on of galgos collapsed. (It was the vet decision to put the muzzle on him as the dog became so aggressive through sheet terror).

Thank you Nina for coming and helping and documenting this journey, she was hidden behind the camera but was there all the way! Allison & Geoff held the fort with the kennels, thank you!’

Galgos del Sol shelter is in the Murcia area where Deanimals lawyers have had success with the Umprona animal welfare police. Sad the galguero was only fined…he should be put somewhere to experience the same conditions and terror as he inflicted on his dogs!
