The abandoned dog problem is Spain is horrendous. Here’s the story of two in Jaen, luckily rescued; a podenco and a mastin, the latter which had a chain embedded in its neck. They are both traumatized and the rescue group are looking for foster homes for them.

’12 June: Look what we’ve rescued this afternoon Antonio Murciano and me under the bridge Jontoya (Jaen). Saved a mastin and a podenco, have called them Romeo and Juliet. They need a foster home which has a lot of experience with dogs traumatized and will receive all the attention they deserve.I don’t want medals or much less, there are many other cases too but I just want people to know the reality that we live day to day here in jaén. They have been taken to the vet, sadly the podenco will probably have a leg amputated, the mastin has a chain buried in the skin. They will need a long recovery and specialist care.
