The flesh eating killer dog disease Alabama Rot has reached Nottingham claiming its first victim in Hucknall – a 12 year old Schnauzer.
Please be aware of the symptoms and if you even suspect this get your dog to the vets ASAP!
Symptoms include SKIN LESIONS / SORES on LEGS / BODY / FACE. TIREDNESS / SICKNESS / INCREASED THIRST / NOT EATING which can lead to ACUTE KIDNEY FAILURE AND DEATH WITHIN 24 HOURS!!
The cause is still not known but suspected to be picked up on dogs paws when walking. The advice is to wash the mud of their paws and check for sores / lesions especially in long haired coats. The sores can appear up to 5 days after a walk so please be vigilant!
