Blanca, the oldie – Bev’s farewell

RIP Blanca:

(10/05/2013) Today I drove to Valencia to collect Blanca the 11 year old Podenca that had been dumped in a Perrera by her owner because she got tired and couldn’t hunt anymore.

I entered the kennel and was shocked to see what terrible condition she was in, her breathing was very laboured. On lifting her into the car she cried out in pain and I gently placed on her soft bed and gave her a stroke and kiss on her forehead. I commented to the member of staff this dog is dying I think he also knew that.

I was aware I had a very sick dog and set off to the veterinary Hospital which was over an hours drive away. I could hear her crying in the back of the car and stopped to check on her and could see she was in trouble so just put my foot down to get to the hospital A.S.A.P.

On arriving when I turned the engine off I could not longer hear her breathing and my worst fears was confirmed she had died. All I was able to do was ensure that her broken body was treated with some dignity and respect and made the arrangements for her.

At the moment all I can think is what if I had got there earlier could I have prevented this tragedy.

To the worthless piece of s**t who worked Blanca all her life and and she probably put food on your table, why couldn’t you spare a few euros to end her life without pain. You took the easy option and left her in place where she was afraid and alone. May you rot in hell!.
