Podenca Linda, exploited, maltreated, dumped in a Seville street
This post is for “SUPER PEOPLE.” Please help this little podenca in Seville.
She has been named Linda. Life has obviously been very miserable for her, at the hands of unscrupulous people who have used her for breeding, discarded now. She’s been wandering for more than 3 months, disoriented, malnourished, depressed. She’s had a blow to the face, no front teeth. She’s currently off the street in an empty house but needs to be with someone who will put the life back into her and find her a forever home. Please can someone take this lost soul.

Holidays on Lanzarote – visit SARA Protectora and the podencos
SARA Protectora shelter on Lanzarote in the Canary Islands work very hard to help abandoned dogs and cats, especially podencos. Here is a list of some more of these fabulous dogs, desperately waiting for homes on mainland Europe, which is their only hope of a life outside of the shelter. As I keep saying, these dogs make fabulous companions, Pets as Therapy dogs, agility dogs – if adopted young. And are extremely loyal. Please give them a chance.
FITO – Submissive and nervous, very kind. Needs somebody who gives him security and love. He doesn’t pull on the lead and is now beginning slowly to become more confident when outside.

Podenco x Frank needs veterinary care – please donate
As with many small refuges, Galgos del Sol struggles for funding to pay for veterinary care and feed for their galgos and podencos. This is one of them, Frank, a podenco x found running up a motorway, starving and frightened. He is approx 1yrs old and fully vaccined and castrated. At present he is too thin. His bloods are negative for leishmania, erlichia and filaria. Frank has a serious food allergy which causes extreme diarrhoea, his pancreas has tested ok and he needs a special food diet. He’s now been taken into the vet clinic for further tests, including an endoscopy.
This is going to cost 500 euros, a lot of money, if you can donate towards the cost of Frank’s vet fees, you will make a big difference to the life of this young dog. At present we are working with a vet to find a diet that suits him.

Buddies on the streets of Cordoba – please help them
This is the story of two buddies, a collie and a podenca. The collie has spent months wandering around an area of Cordoba. Recently he’s been joined by this little podenca. No one wants them, everyone walks buy, occasionally someone throws them a crust.
They are young and don’t deserve this life. Can anyone find room to take them in? They both deserve a chance.

TARA animal shelter, Gran Canaria – podencos searching for forever homes
Brian Baptist is a volunteer with TARA, an animal rescue shelter in the beautiful port of Mogan on Gran Canaria, Canary Islands. He’s passionate about the podencos on the island and the hard life they have. Here’s what he writes.
‘Canario Podencos are a breed of canine that evolved from goddesses and gods of Egyptian folklore. If any canine is god-like, it must certainly be the Podenco. They are beautiful beyond belief – ethereal in presence and physicality. Despite their reputation as a hunting dogs, they are in truth just about the best family pet for whom a human could hope.
