From Bev Farmer of Podenco Friends
Some updates remind us why rescue matters… The Podenca I shared a few days ago from the pound in the UK is finally safe. After seeing my post on Thursday, Pam McLeod from Podencos in Need – PINS immediately contacted the pound in Bradford. Today, they signed her over into Pam’s care.
of Fliss when she was rescue.
It was a long journey to freedom. Pam’s wonderful team member, Sandie, and her husband drove to collect her before meeting Pam and her husband in Carlisle, who then took her home to Scotland. She has been given a beautiful new name… Felicity, or Fliss for short.
Sadly, Fliss is one of the most severe cases of long-term neglect and abuse. From her microchip records, we know she is at least eight years old, and on Monday, when the veterinary college reopens, we hope to learn more about her history.
Despite everything she has endured, everyone who has met her has said the same thing… she is incredibly gentle and has the sweetest temperament. It is heartbreaking to think of what this lovely soul has suffered, yet she still chooses kindness.
Tonight, there will be no more pound kennel. No more uncertainty. Just a warm bed, a little dinner, and the chance to sleep knowing she is finally safe.
The road ahead will be long. Fliss will need months of veterinary care, rehabilitation and love, but at last she has been given something every dog deserves… hope.
Thank you, Pam, Sandie and your families, for stepping forward without hesitation. Because of you, Fliss’s future begins tomorrow.
For tonight, we’re simply grateful that this beautiful girl is safe, warm and loved.

As you can see from this photo when she was collected from the pound, she is desperately underweight, has been starved for quite a while. Lucky she is now safe.
