This is an urgent appeal for someone to take in this beautiful young podenca. She is in Anna, near Xativa in the Province of Valencia. This is the story from the lady who wants to save her.
‘I have been feeding her since October. I live in Anna which is about 20 minutes from Xativa. I have contacted PEPA and she is on their website but they have nowhere for her to go. I have also contacted SOS Galgos. No one seems able to help.
She has a problem with her leg and she will need an operation which I would be happy to pay for. I do not want to remove her until I have somewhere for her to go.
Another little soul, abandoned on the streets at just 4 months old! This is little podenca Mina, found with an injured/malformed back leg, which has now been operated on successfully, making her a typical puppy, happy and playful.
Mina is desperate to find a forever home where she can grow and blossom with care and love. If anyone can take this cute little sould into their heart and home, please contact Silvia Galgos Connection Spain. Silvia speaks excellent English
You probably remember podenca Katy, who had cataracts in both eyes. Silvia’s vet has operated but sadly the eye inside was malformed and the specialist could do nothing. Katy is happy and doing well, you can see a video on the website. Well done to Galgo Connection Spain and everyone involved in helping this beautiful podenca.
This is podenca Katy; she is blind; she is lucky to be in the safe and caring hands of Silvia of Galgos Connection Spain, and her marvellous vet. This is what Silvia says about Katy.
‘This is Katy, she is a special girl with a huge problem in the eyes, she needs an operation because her eyes are turned, the iris is inside; if she has this operation, there is every possibility that she will recover her sight. As always, please help towards her vet fees, we have many dogs in the pension needing our help. If someone can help please do it, Katy deserves to see the nice part of life.

The resilience of dogs never ceases to amaze me – and their capacity to forgive humans too. This podenca was rescued starving and near death’s door in the Valencia area. You can see from the photo when she was rescued that she could barely stand – just skin hanging on a skeletal frame.
Dora, as she has been named, is now in Madrid in a foster home, living with other dogs and cats – so no problem living with cats. She have recovered her health and enjoys playing with her toys – and going for walks with her foster mom.
This is Laila, an eleven year old podenca. She is now in the care of Silvia of Galgo Connection Spain. Here is what she says.
‘As you can see, Laila has a big tumour and has bred a lot of puppies. Her owner didn’t want to help the old girl and took her to the killing station. She was there about a month. I was waiting for someone to help her but finally, I thought, I have to do something and the best is to operate on her. So she is now booked in to the vet to have the tumour removed.
Here’s an appeal from a small animal charity based in Valencia, who are desperately seeking homes for 3 podenco x.
‘My name is Pat Taylor and I’m emailing you on behalf of an animal charity called P.E.P.A. based in the Valencian Community of Spain. We don’t have any kennels, all our animals are placed with foster carers or in small family run kennels. Our website is
